Can't use Chrome on older android phones, Gingerbread etc.

That old android-browser is insecure, won't get any fixes .. so nobody should use it.

Come on guys, are you trying to be great webmasters using an old obsolete phone and browser?

It's some of the customers that use the older phones and browsers, not us.

I was referring to unsupported smartphones in general, not just old versions of android.

Well, you have very interesting customers.

There are many developers here complaining about how difficult G5 is to manage (I totally disagree btw). But you have some final customers doing that, and using a phone!. Take that! rocketteers, haha, just kidding.

I dont have any final customer trying to modify page estructure or so. That is my job. But hey, this world is made from diversity.

I have a win 10 tablet too and no issues ... for me Gantry5 works awesome on all relevant browsers.
I suggest to create a post in the suppoer forum if you have an issue.

      www.sitepoint.com/browser-trends-march-2...ng-system-surprises/

Don't forget: The default browser on old androids won't get fixes anymore. It's insecure and buggy. You need to use Chrome.
Safari 5 win is dead. Safari 6 is old now. Safari latest is 9.

More or less you should follow google guidlines for supported browsers.

I had post on forum but it was not solved. So I gave up. I have Lenovo Miix 3, 8". I tried many browsers, Chrome, FF, Opera, Edge and the only where it works is Maxhton. Page does not show there as in mobile device but for PC. But I give up. There is no point loose time with it.

Is there a way to divert unsupported mobile browsers to an update messege like you used to with IE? At the moment, all an unsupported user gets is a broken template. I think this is a feature that should be written into the templates. At least the users would know what is wrong. Or perhaps to divert the user to an alternative template.

That sounds promising. I had a look on the extensions page but could not find it. Any idea what it is called please?

    • you could just grab the code from this page

      browser-update.org/en/

go to the base outline of your template/pagesettings and add the js via assests or an atom to head tag.
One of the great features in Gantry5: adding CSS or JS files is very easy.
