- Not sure I understand what you mean. I would love to redirect an old Samsung/LG/Nokia from 5 years ago but that link above only deals with desktop browsers, does it not?

You can't really check the hardware used ther are just too many ... you need to check the useragent.
It could also be that an old device has a vaild browser on it. -

You could use MobileDetect and create an atom that redirects if it matches certain os and browsers.

Jellybean is Android 4.x or so? Well I guess you could install Chrome on that. So just checking for the Android version would be useless ...

- What's useless? Are you saying it's useless to try and inform users that if they have unsupported operating systems on their mobiles they should upgrade asap? If their old mobile is capable of running Chrome then a messege informing them would surely be useful, no? Or am I just flogging a dead horse and barking up the wrong tree here...
