• Hi all:

I am close to finally launching my website, however i am experiencing a problem/bug which takes place in Firefox that is really worrying me. I have been seeing this problem in my site for a long time ocasionally.

At first, and following the help of some fellow rocketeers it looked like i had solved it. If you are up for it you can read the post where this issue was discussed in the past, but i warn you there is a lot of confusing info.

www.rockettheme.com/index.php?option=com...mid=149&topic=3301.0

Now i have finally been able to isolate the problem by unpublishing most of the stuff and reproduce it.

It is NOT a template related issue, because it happens with several templates i have tested it with. As you can see in the images i attached, i unpublished most of the modules and content so i only have 2 content items, and the login module published and the problem is visually obvious.

If anybody could log in with the authentication details i give you below, and give me their opinion on what might be happening or what to try i would really appreciate it, since i don't know what else to try :(

to access my site go to:

http://www.s e n t i r t a n g o.com/index.php
(remove the spaces)

and when asked, authenticate with user: rockettheme and password: gorocket

So what i am sure so far is:

It happens in several different original Rockettheme templates, such as "Carbonation", "Mobius", "PixelPerfect"...
It happens in Firefox, both in 1.5.0.7 and in 2.0
It happens in my laptop and in at least another PC that i have tested it with
It doesn't happen in Internet Explorer(so far)
It happens in several different screen resolutions

If you have the time and the curiousity to test it in your end and guess what might be happening please go ahead :)

Thanks,
NiCo

Yes, in Firefox Mac. Strange thing is that when I use webdeveloper tool, like Display Element Information, everything is coming right. When refreshing the page, the problem is occuring again.

Do you still have jreviews component active ? And Jogadget ?

• Jogadgets mambot and JReviews mambot are unpublished, but both components are still installed.

Theoretically, unpublishing the mambots of this 2 components is the way not to have them working, but by looking at eh source of the page they are definetely still loading some stuff.

The only thing left there would be uninstalling them

Yes, it's what I thought.

• Just like Yves described, when I start to look at elements and use some of the developer tools in firefox the layout "fixes" itself.
Looking at source and the very strange behaviors a best guess would have to be some javascript conflicts.
Even though you have unpublished some mambots etc. there is indeed still quite a few things loading up into the template:
SEE HERE:
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/_jgfw_/js/prototype.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/_jgfw_/js/jgfw_functions.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.yoursite.com/_jgfw_/css/jgfw_css.css" media="all" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/jreviews_js.js" ></script>

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/js/scriptaculous.js?load=effects"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/js/lightbox.js"></script>
<link href="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/css/lightbox.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/submodal/submodal.css" /><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/submodal/submodal.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">setPopUpLoadingPage("http://www.yoursite.com/components/com_jreviews/scripts/submodal/loading.html")</script>
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.yoursite.com/images/favicon.ico" />
&nbsp; <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
&nbsp; <script language="javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/templates/rt_carbonation_original/js/rt_sameheight.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
&nbsp; <link href="http://www.yoursite.com/templates/rt_carbonation_original/css/template_css.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

&nbsp; <link href="http://www.yoursite.com/templates/rt_carbonation_original/css/grey.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

There are a ton of javascripts loading at once.
II would try completely uninstalling jogadgets and jreviews, clearing your browsers cookies/cache etc.
Just to see if this corrects the problem. Then maybe add them back one at a time to see if it becomes apparent witch script is creating the conflict.

Figuring out witch component/mambots creating the problem is always really fun, and then trying to get them to behave together nicely as well.
As per your other thread figuring out witch calls to edit is a real pain in the ***
It sort of looks like jogadgets and jreviews are using the same lightbox script maybe.......
YouYou where are you?
This one looks like it's right up your alley again......

• Peter, thanks for your input, and i appreciate you replaced my website name by 'mysite' when you pasted the source ;)

i backed up everything and then did this:

1) Unistalled the Jogadgets mambot(there is not a component)

2) Tested and problem still existed

3) Unistalled both JReviews mambot and component

4) Tested and problem NO longer exists.

So, the problem appears to be directly related to JReviews.

But i am confused now as to what path to follow :-( This problem doesn't seem to be occurring to anybody else

• Mystery remains but Problem fixed ;-)

after removing almost everything you can imagine, i finally isolated the problem with 2 .css that JReviews was loading and for some still not clear mysterious reason it was creating that conflict.

Thanks to Alejandro from JReviews for figuring out that in my com_frontpage menu item i had the parameter #Leading set to 0. When
changed it back to 1 the problem dissappeared.(strange cause i have Columns set to only 1)

i kind of like that it remains a mystery ;D
