SOLVED G5 updates - checksum verification failed

Posted 1 year 1 month ago
    • [J!4.2.9 G!5.5.15 Hydrogen (v5.5.15 / g5_hydrogen)]

Just tried to update g5_helium, g5_hydrogen and pkg_gantry5
      and got this alert:

danger - The checksum verification failed. Please make sure you are using the correct update server!

Can you tell how to fix? Thanks.

    • Use the CI build instead for now (which has the same fixes in it). We are aware of the issues and it’s currently being worked upon.

      Thanks for this, Mark.
      @ gantry.org/blog/gantry5-ci-builds I read:

It is STRONGLY advised NOT to install CI Builds in a production environment. Due to the nature of these builds, where everything gets generated automatically and is a mirror of the actual development repository, chances are that there will be bugs, issues and unexpected behaviors.

Might be not that harmful, but if I update such a build with a new standard update from the Gantry itself again, wouldn't that cause incompatability issues?

    • I am well aware what a CI build is. We created the G5.5.16 CI build to address the requirements for PHP 8.1.x and PHP 8.2.x - we’ve spent a considerable amount of time testing it and it is stable. This is why we then moved on to release that exact content as the G5.5.16 official release. Unfortunately the mechanics of creating the official release caused some errors in the build process and the G5.5.16 official release had issues (nothing to do with the actual content of the release which is exactly the same as the CI build). This is why I suggested to you that is was perfectly safe to use the CI Build.

The G5.5.16 Official release has now been updated again and works for most members (some members still are reporting an issue with checksums on installation which we are looking at).

      So, here are your choices:

      1. try the official G5.5.16 build again by re-downloading it from the gantry site.
      2. If the above fails for you, accept my recommendation and go ahead and install the CI build of G5.5.16 available on the Gantry site.
      3. If you don’t want to use the CI Build then download the G5.5.15 release from the gantry 5 site and install that instead https://github.com/gantry/gantry5/releases . But of course your will also need to downgrade PHP to no higher than PHP 8.0.x too.

You can go backwards and forwards on releases (within G5.5.x) - it will do no harm and it will not cause incompatibility issues.

      Regards, Mark.
