Hello.
I've had a site I have built on Gantry Framework v. 4.1.21.
I run Joomla 3.4.8 and PHP 5.6.16.
Should I simply upgraded Gantry Framework v. 4 to a newer vers.
Should I simply upgraded Gantry Framework v. 5 - can I run into problems with this.
I'm no expert in Joomla, but has made it myself the site I have.

You should update Gantry 4.1.21 to Gantry 4.1.29 - you can do this on extensions manager > update - you should also make sure you are using the latest version of your template and all other RT extensions too. You should not update to Gantry 5 - this is a completely different framework and would require you to change template also.
Backup before doing any updates.

By far the bulk of our templates are designed to run on Gantry 4. Therefore, we are not going to be retiring Gantry 4 any time soon. There is no "end date" set for Gantry 4 at all.
That said, obviously all new templates are now designed to run on Gantry 5, we won't be releasing any more templates for Gantry 4. So, when time permits you should start learning Gantry 5 - it is very different to Gantry 4 and there is a learning curve to go through.
