Yep, but most of that work is in PHP on server side.
The issue is browser end and most likely a Javascript library clash.
Nothing to do with the components I'm writing.
I can prove this by simply removing the line loading JQuery Mobile from my components.
If I do that the problem disappears.
So the incompatibilty between RT Gantry & JQuery Mobile is conclusive.

I just assumed it was a clash between the two JS frameworks without actually trying vanilla joomla.
Joomla has known compatibility problem with JQuery but it looks as if JQuery Mobile makes these worse.
This has helped greatly in progressing this issue for me.
