It works!
I can't believe it. It was all because I was using caps in the template.css file (I guess). I tried both codes, with and without caps, and only the latter works.

... and now think about this: without Gantry you wouldnt even have the feature to add the page-class to the body tag. So Joomla is not restricted by gantry – in fact: it's the opposite.
It unleashes the real power of joomla.

1. In the template-parameters turn the page-suffix-feature to "on"
2. choose different "page-suffixes" for different menu-items like "bg-page-1", "bg-page-2" etc.
(you find this in the menu-items on the right in "parameters-system"

look at the body-tag in the source ... I see this on your page:
<body class="bodylevel-high modulehover-1 readonstyle-button fixedheader-0 font-family-amaranth font-size-is-default menu-type-fusionmenu col12 option-com-content menu-home bg-page-1">
rt-body-background is not supposed to change ....

Thanks Henning, i did not realized, had to remove this code "before" the new bg code.
Only problem now, on the Forum (Kunena) there is no page suffix in the menu options ...bodylevel-high #rt-body-background {background: #E8EAEB url(../images/body/body-bg.png); background-position:top left; background-attachment:fixed; border-bottom: 1px solid #fafafa;} .bodylevel-low #rt-body-background {background: #E8EAEB;} -

- so for the non super programmer types can you narrow down the name of the file and what you changed so we can just go straight to it.... i would really like to change the background in panecia to an image instead of a color how do us non super peeps do that ??

Please post your issue in the Panacea-forum.
It's very different in that template.
