Gantry outside gutter (margin-left, margin-right) question

Hi,
Has anyone figured out how to increase the outside gutters to 20px? By default they are 10px, but for looks sake I need it to match the inner gutter widths of 20px. All my attempts to do this haven't worked. I either end up with modules that get bumped to the next line, or sections that don't reach far enough across the 960 grid. I've tried editing the gantry column width CSS file, but can never get it perfect. I've got it to work for layout of two columns (and width configuration) but once I add in a third it no longer plays nice.
I'd really love to hear how this can be achieved.
