Language specific menu shows only if it's associated to pages

  • Language specific menu shows only if it's associated to pages

Posted 8 years 9 months ago
    • Hello,

I have a website with two languages French and Dutch, For the main template there are two overrides, each to set language menu for French and Dutch respectively, only override they have besides language set is which menu to show. Since recently for French language that setting works, but for Dutch menu is not shown, only way to make it shown is to assign that override to the dutch menu items specifically. This is not the best solution for us, because when we add a new menu item for Dutch language we need to assign this override to it as well in order to have menu.

While French works normally and flawlessly, what could be suddenly causing this problem?

    • That is exactly how it should work. Each of you template language overrides MUST be assigned to all the menu items for that language. You had not done this for french menu items so I have now done it for you.

Regarding your point about adding a new menu item.... When you add a menu item you can specify there which template it is supposed to use (see screeshot of french home menu item as example). So, you can set this up in one step, without having to go back to template manager.

Please read our documentation on multi-language set-up here http://www.rockettheme.com/docs/joomla/basic/how_to_create_a_multilingual_site.md

      Regards, Mark.
