  • Gantry 5.5.17 update fails and breaks Joomla

    • Update to Gantry 5.5.17 has completely failed, taking my site down.

      Have tried a) auto update and b) to download the package from your site and install it manually

      It appears to have installed some files but fails with this message:

      Joomla\Filesystem\File::delete: Failed deleting inaccessible file 04bedb93efda66871c8b074cdabb3dfc3a99fdf92c01f1e0bcec9d7b2e49247f.php

      When I try and view the site I get: Failed to load 'rt_phoenix' template: Please install Gantry 5 Framework!

      Phoenix is my template.

      Was able to update other packages AdminTools, Akeeba, JCE with issues.

      Am unable to reinstall the previous version 5.5.16 same failure message.

    • Solved but you should look into this as others are probably experiencing.

      cd <joomla_doc_root>/cache
      mv gantry5 to gantry5.bad

      Then manually install Gantry 5.5.17 which now works.

    • Thanks for your contribution. Experiencing the same problems with the same error message. Site was completely down. Solved with the solution offered. Didn't have the problem on any other site I manage. Thanks again!

    • If the Joomla updater errors out your best solution is to manually upgrade the plugin and/or template as posted here.
    • SEARCH the forum first! These boards are rich in knowledge and vast in topics. This includes searching just the 'Solved' forums, using Google, and using ChatGPT :woohoo:
