SOLVED Problem Creating Level 2 Multi-Column Drop-Down Menu

Posted 8 years 1 month ago
    • Hi,

I'm testing locally, and am having a problem creating a multi-column drop-down menu. When I try to drag-and-drop a menu item into a new column, it snaps back into its original position.

I'm using Joomla! 3.4.8 and the latest versions of Gantry 5 and Firefox.

      Thank you

I just tried moving a menun item from column three to column four and I had no issues:

Clone your site from local to remote server with a free copy of Akeeba backup . It takes about 10 miutes ;)

    • (PLEASE SEE ATTACHED)

      Hi,

Thank you for the reply. The problem I'm having is specific to Level 2, not Level 1. I should have mentioned that in my first post, but I didn't realize it until further testing.

I've attached several screenshots that illustrate the problem (I'm not able to upload my site to a remote server at the moment).

When I try to drag and drop the menu items of a Level 2 drop-down menu from the first column to the second column, they snap back to their original position.

      Thanks again!

    • It turns out it's a design issue:
So your issue is that you have a lot of menu items in both level 1 and level 2. In the first level you can split the menu into multiple columns, but you cannot do it for level 2.

I assume that by level 1 you mean the second level (eg. when you hover the main level menu item).

The short answer is that you cannot do that. The menu was designed to have only a single level of complex menu.

I see that it is slated for Future Releases.
