- I'm one of those who think this template (design wise) is horrible. Way too much plastic "back to the 90's design". It look cheap to me. Sorry thumbs down fro me this time.

Have you tried the simple layouts? A lot more css and fewer images and gradients if that's what you're looking for.
Why not change the images that have too much of the gradients for ya? That's why the source images are provided. Take a look at it for the structure and then you can be as creative, simple or complex, as you want to be.

I am currently building a new site on this template and I think it looks stunning
Eagerly awaiting the phpbb3 skin to match it. I will join the phpbb forums club once it's released. That's assuming there will be a skin to match.

Well, looks really nice, so I downloaded it and installed it on my server. And it loads extremely slow...I have pages with high amounts of kB and they load much faster. Any idea why ?

Hard to tell without a link and some more info on your hosting set up. Are you on shared hosting? Do you have other extensions installed?
Post a link if you can.
