Reaction WordPress Theme

Reaction Reaction, the August 2010 Club Theme release, is the proud pioneer of the brand new Gantry Framework, a powerful construct that will be the firm foundation of all new themes to come. Gantry offers many great features, the most noticeable being the 960 grid layout, and the complex and intuitive administrative interface.

Alongside the new Gantry core, are many other features that are now synonymous with RocketTheme theme releases such as the varying graphic detail options for each style variation, functional menus and integrated styling for a wide range of extensions.

The most noticeable feature of Reaction is most certainly its incorporation of the new Gantry Framework. Gantry is, as a basic definition, A framework used for assembling, building and maintaining a RocketTheme template. It is an advanced platform for dramatically extending the capabilities of the entire theming system of WordPress.

6 Styles, 18 Combinations!

An important aspect of Reaction is its design, and has 6 unique style variations in 18 combinations. Each preset style has 3 background levels: Low, Medium & High, which represent different levels of detailing. Fusion Menu

Fusion is javascript-based dropdown menu system, with extensive functionality. The menu itself is built on the rewritten core of the latest revision of RokNavMenu, the core application behind all RocketTheme menus.

Fusion offers a series of new abilities ranging from Menu Icons, Subtext support and much greater controls over the Multiple Column ability for dropdowns. More Details...

Installation


Downloading the Theme Files

To install the theme, you only need one file:-

  • Reaction Theme (rt_reaction_wp.zip) – This file is the theme package you will use to install your theme into WordPress.

There are other files that you may wish to download that accompany the release, but are not required for the theme to work.

  • Reaction Sample Content (rt_reaction_wp-sample-(version).zip) – This file contains XML file with sample posts, comments etc. and the "wp-content" directory with all images used in our sample content.
  • Reaction Source PNG(s) (rt_reaction_wp-sources-(version).zip) – This contains all the Adobe Fireworks PNG source files for the theme, and if applicable, the logo font.
Please note that the Gantry plugin needs to be installed first and activated (doesn't apply to RocketLauncher).

Using the RocketLauncher

RocketLauncher includes a FULL WordPress install, in addition to the theme and demo contents. The WordPress installation process is necessary in creating the demo content, therefore RocketLauncher will only work properly as a new WordPress installation. It can not be used on an existing WordPress installation.
  • Download the Reaction RocketLauncher Package (rt_reaction_wp_rocketlauncher.zip) from the Reaction theme downloads section
  • Unzip the zip packaged onto your computer to reveal the rt_reaction_wp_rocketlauncher folder
  • Upload this to your site using your FTP client
  • Direct your browser to the installation such as www.yoursite.com/rt_reaction_wp_rocketlauncher or to whatever directory your uploaded to
  • Follow the standard WordPress installation, after which the theme and gantry framework will automatically be activated, along with the sample content.

Using the WordPress installer

  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → Add New Themes → Upload
  • Select the Choose File button
  • Locate the rt_reaction_wp.zip file on your computer
  • Click Install Now
  • Reaction will now be installed
  • Please go back to the themes page (with the template name, description and thumbnail)
  • Click Activate under Reaction Theme

Using FTP

  • Extract rt_reaction_wp.zip
  • Load your FTP client, such as FileZilla
  • Upload the rt_reaction_wp folder to the http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/themes
  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance Themes
  • Click Activate underneath the Reaction section
