Crystalline WordPress Theme

Crystalline Crystalline, the October 2010 Club Theme release, features the new Color Chooser, a powerful new addition that allows you to customize the theme style with great ease. With just a few adjustments, you can dramatically change the appearance of your entire site.

The transparent nature of the theme is what gives the Color Chooser its foundation, but the theme has many more features, mainly orientating around the Gantry Framework, such as its complex administrator interface and 960 grid system, but other extras too, such as dynamic widget variations and the Fusion Menu.

Color Chooser & 12 Preset Styles

The Color Chooser is, in effect, an interactive popup that allows you to edit the various style elements of Crystalline, such as background, text, link colour and overlay graphics, live. You can save them directly into the Gantry administrator for assignment later. The transparent nature of the template makes the Color Chooser so extraordinary.

Additionally, we have pre-configured 12 preset styles with the Color Chooser to show a small selection of how the feature can be used.

Gantry Framework

Crystalline is the built with the Gantry Framework, which includes powerful features such as menu item control, RTL support, custom presets and many more. This is all on top of the first generation features, making Gantry the most noticeable, and far reaching feature of the template.

Gantry is, as a basic definition, A framework used for assembling, building and maintaining a RocketTheme template. It is an advanced platform for dramatically extending the capabilities of the entire theming system of WordPress.

Fusion Menu

Fusion is javascript-based dropdown menu system, with extensive functionality. The menu itself is built on the rewritten core of the latest revision of RokNavMenu, the core application behind all RocketTheme menus.

Fusion offers a series of new abilities ranging from Menu Icons, Subtext support and much greater controls over the Multiple Column ability for dropdowns. More Details...

Installation


Downloading the Theme Files

To install the theme, you only need one file:-

  • Crystalline Theme (rt_crystalline_wp.zip) – This file is the theme package you will use to install your theme into WordPress.

There are other files that you may wish to download that accompany the release, but are not required for the theme to work.

  • Crystalline Sample Content (rt_crystalline_wp-sample-(version).zip) – This file contains XML file with sample posts, comments etc. and the "wp-content" directory with all images used in our sample content.
  • Crystalline Source PNG(s) (rt_crystalline_wp-sources-(version).zip) – This contains all the Adobe Fireworks PNG source files for the theme, and if applicable, the logo font.
Please note that the Gantry plugin needs to be installed first and activated (doesn't apply to RocketLauncher).

Using the RocketLauncher

RocketLauncher includes a FULL WordPress install, in addition to the theme and demo contents. The WordPress installation process is necessary in creating the demo content, therefore RocketLauncher will only work properly as a new WordPress installation. It can not be used on an existing WordPress installation.
  • Download the Crystalline RocketLauncher Package (rt_crystalline_wp_rocketlauncher.zip) from the Crystalline theme downloads section
  • Unzip the zip packaged onto your computer to reveal the rt_crystalline_wp_rocketlauncher folder
  • Upload this to your site using your FTP client
  • Direct your browser to the installation such as www.yoursite.com/rt_crystalline_wp_rocketlauncher or to whatever directory your uploaded to
  • Follow the standard WordPress installation, after which the theme and gantry framework will automatically be activated, along with the sample content.

Using the WordPress installer

  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → Add New Themes → Upload
  • Select the Choose File button
  • Locate the rt_crystalline_wp.zip file on your computer
  • Click Install Now
  • Crystalline will now be installed
  • Please go back to the themes page (with the template name, description and thumbnail)
  • Click Activate under Crystalline Theme

Using FTP

  • Extract rt_crystalline_wp.zip
  • Load your FTP client, such as FileZilla
  • Upload the rt_crystalline_wp folder to the http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/themes
  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance Themes
  • Click Activate underneath the Crystalline section
