Excellent Color Chooser

The ever popular Color Chooser provides a quick and easy way to change the theme's style. Everything is easier accessible from the Admin Dashboard page → Akiraka Settings.

An assortment of settings are available in the administrator, with options for both manual input (Hex values) as well as a mootools popup color wheel. Making the color scheme of your choice has never been simpler!

Installation


Downloading the Theme Files

To install the theme, you only need one file:-

  • Akiraka Theme (rt_akiraka_wp-(version).zip) – This file is the theme package you will use to install your theme into WordPress.

There are other files that you may wish to download that accompany the release, but are not required for the theme to work.

  • Akiraka Sample Content (rt_akiraka_wp-sample-(version).zip) – This file contains XML file with sample posts, comments etc. and the "wp-content" directory with all images used in our sample content.
  • Akiraka Source PNG(s) (rt_akiraka_wp-sources-(version).zip) – This contains all the Adobe Fireworks PNG source files for the theme, and if applicable, the logo font.

Using the WordPress installer

  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → Add New Themes → Upload
  • Select the Choose File button
  • Locate the rt_akiraka_wp-(version).zip file on your computer
  • Click Install Now
  • On the post-install page (with the theme name, description and thumbnail), select Activate
  • Akiraka will now be installed

Using FTP

  • Extract rt_akiraka_wp-(version).zip
  • Load your FTP client, such as FileZilla
  • Upload the rt_akiraka_wp-(version) folder to the http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/themes
  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → Themes
  • Click Activate underneath the Akiraka section

Importing Sample Content

This allows you to copy over the data from the Demo so that you can match our setup
  • Extract rt_akiraka_wp-sample-(version).zip
  • Upload the “wp-content” folder using your favorite FTP client to your WordPress main directory.
  • Locate sample_data.xml
  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Tools → Import
  • Select WordPress from the numerous options
  • Click Choose File and select sample_data.xml from your computer
  • Click Upload File and Import
  • Now you can create a new author for sample posts or map it to existing user.
  • Press the Submit button and let the Wordpress do the rest.
Please DO NOT check the "Download Attachments" tickbox as it won't download anything. All images from our demo are provided in a zip package with sample content.

Where can i find theme settings?
  • Login into the WordPress administrator at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/
  • Select the Appearance tab on the left of the dashboard
  • Select Akiraka Settings from within the tab
How to add thumbnails to Front Page posts?
If you would like to see a thumbnail next to your post on frontpage you have to :
  • Enter into edit mode of post next to which you’d like to display your thumbnail
  • In the section "Custom Fields" from the dropdown menu please choose "thumb" – if it doesn’t exist you have to press "Enter new" to create it
  • In the field "Value" next to "thumb" please enter URL to your thumbnail ie. http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/thumb.jpg
Best size for frontpage thumbnails is 246px x 116px
To check path to an image please go to the Media page in your administration dashboard, click Edit under the image you wish to use, and copy the path from the File URL field.
How to add posts to "Showcase" section?
All posts displayed in the Showcase section have to be assigned to the "Showcase" category. If there’s more than 1 post in that category, posts will be displayed randomly.
If you haven’t installed our sample content please remember to change the Category in Akiraka Settings to the category you created to use for your "Showcase" Posts
How to use image instead of post title in "Showcase" section?
  • Enter into edit mode of showcase post you wish to change
  • In the section "Custom Fields" from the dropdown menu please choose "title" – if it doesn’t exist you have to press "Enter new" to create it
  • In the field "Value" next to "title" please enter URL to your title image ie. http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/title.png
  • If you won’t add title image, there will be displayed normal title of your post
How to add thumbnails to "Showcase" section posts?
You can add up to 3 thumbnails. To add a thumbnail please :
  • Enter into edit mode of showcase post you wish to change
  • In the section "Custom Fields" from the dropdown menu please choose "thumb1″, "thumb2″ or "thumb3″ – if it doesn’t exist you have to press "Enter new" to create it
  • In the field "Value" next to "thumb(number 1-3)" please enter URL to your thumbnail ie. http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/showcase_thumb_1.jpg
How to remove "Showcase" section?
Just go to the Akiraka Settings page in admin dashboard and next to the Showcase Category → choose None

Alternatively to remove the Showcase section please unassign all posts from category you assigned for your Showcase posts. If Wordpress detects no posts in that category it will automatically hide that section.
How to add posts to Section 1 and Section 2 at the bottom of the page?
All posts that you want to appear in the Section 1 or Section 2 have to be assigned to "Section 1″ or "Section 2″ category. If there’s more than 1 post in each of these categories, posts will be displayed randomly in their categories.
If you haven’t installed our sample content please remember to change the Categories in Akiraka Settings to the categories you created to use for your "Section 1" and "Section 2" Posts
How to remove Section 1 or Section 2?

How to change Showcase and Sections 1 and 2 assigned categories?
If you haven’t installed our sample content you can easily enable Showcase and Sections 1 and 2 by changing their assigned categories :-
  • Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Posts → Categories and create new categories for your Showcase, Section 1 and Section 2 posts
  • Assign your posts to these categories
  • In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → Akiraka Settings
  • Change the categories next to the fields Frontpage Showcase Category, Section 1 Category and Section 2 Category to your newly created categories
