Integrating SMF forum into Internet Gazette Template
« on: February 26, 2006, 04:04:16 AM »

Hi

I would like to integrate our SMF forum into the Internet Gazette template, in the same way Rocket Themes has integrated its forum on to the main site, hope I am making sense, if so, how do I do it?

Many thanks!

Regards

Install Orstio's bridge
Replace original SMF template with a modified template by chadness:
Choose wrapped forum
Than make a copy of SMF module and place it in user1. (Remember, it's only for the forum, not for the frontpage or other pages...)

Yes indeed this is Smiley you need to:

1) find a module that have type:mod_smf_login
2) press on it
3) position: user1
4) menu/item links: forum

and you are done, you have one nice header in forum as here

1. I got SMF to bridge with Joomla and the InetGazette Template, but I'm having a bit of trouble with Community Builder. I can get CB to work, but can I get the CB Login module to work with SMF? I like the integration for PMS Enhanced, giving me the profile image when I login. Can I get that module to work with SMF?

Possible?

Thanks much!

What version of SMF bridge you're using?

I have Bridge 1.1.3.

I deleted the 2nd question about the profile image at login. SMF does that. No need there.

BUT... When I use the smf_login module on other pages, unless it's the very bottom module in a column, it stacks on top of the other modules that I'm using. When I make it's position the bottom (last) module, it lets all modules above it look ok. Is there an update to the bridge or a work-around? Is there a way that I can use the Login module near the top?

You can see it at:

YIKES!

I just tried Internet Explorer (vs 6) and when I click on the Forum button, nothing happens. It's as if the button is disabled. In FireFox it works. This must be an SMF issue and not the template. Has anyone else seen this?

No, unless someone modifies CB login module to write into SMF database table

I tested Orstio’s bridge 1.1.3 and have it on my site not such problem, you could try un-publishing and creating a new link to the forum see if it helps.

Thanks, Andrew. That worked! You're the greatest!

But, I still have to publish the SMF Login Form as the last module in the position (right, in this case). If it's on top or anywhere in between, it causes all the modules to stack up on each other. Is there something that I've set wrong?

Thanks much!

I don't have that problem (using 247series template) try a different template.
