Hi from NY

Hi I am totally new and I just want to change pictures (SOLVED)
« on: January 31, 2007, 05:08:26 PM »

Hi all.

So far I love this and this template and there is so much to explore, however I am in a rush I am working with the Sporticus VS template and I want to change out the picture for where the sporticus logo is....

I know on the default template I can find the regular picture to just change it however I am having trouble here. I have been reading the tutorials but I do not want to modify existing headers or what have you I just want to change some logos so to speak.

Is the logo.png under templates not writeable for some reason?

You could download the source files for the graphics and edit the logo.png to your liking and then upload it to the appropriate folder on your server. Wink

Cheers!

Hi I am beginning to learn perhpas that it is not that easy just to swap an image in the logo spot with these rocket templates? As I can do it with default joomla templates, however I do not want o tpay 299 for fireworks and I do nto think it is fair to juts use it for free.

I will continue to look for answers but this is getting to time consuming, i want to just create content

Sure it's easy to swap out a logo. Easiest is when you don't have to change the size, but that just adds another step.
As for editing/ creating your logo, use whatever program that you have on hand.
Create logo.png, upload it to the approriate template image folder, empty your browser cache and voila.
If you have to change the image size, edit the .css file.
Need help, just post.

Cheers and best of luck!

Hi all this is just nuts, I have tried some of the suggestions and I cannot for the life of me just change out the logo.png file..there is something with the rocket theme that is disallowing permissions.

For instance on the standard joomla template called thuk_solarflare I can move png files in and out rename them do what even I want.

On other template themes I can do the same thing.

No matter what rockettheme I use I cannot change a name on on of the graphics specifically the logo.png, I cannot add a different named file so that I can just change the file name in the css files to point to that

I just do not get it. I mean someone please help this makes no sense

I have no problem changing out a RT template graphic from any of the templates that I have tried, fyi.

So, what happens when you try and change the logo on Sporticus? At what point do things go awry?

I'll help you until you get it done and understand how to do it again.

Just to recap:
  • create new logo (easiest is to name it the same as the original template logo, but not necessary to do so - this also assumes that the dimensions of the image are equal to the original logos size)
  • upload new logo to the correct folder on your server - ex: yourwebspace/templates/rt_sporticus/images - either overwriting the old file or rename the old file if you want it for some reason.
  • open browser, empty cache, go to site, voila done.

Cheers!

Hi I'm not sure if I am following correctly - But if this is an upload issue just install Joomla Explorer and overwrite the existing logo.png file this way. If your FTP is not letting you do this. If this in not  what your asking then sorry...  Tongue

Hi all, thanks for jumping into help but I wrote support and they told me to add the component JoomlXplorer,

This solved all my permission problems I have been logo-ing away! It is so amazing how this was happening on these templates but I am a happy camper now!

I am putting the answer here just in case anyone ever has this problem also.
