Possible to Make Pictures "Unsaveable"?
« on: September 26, 2006, 10:59:18 AM »

Hey guys,

I wanted to get some advice on something a client was asking me. He's got alot of great pictures that he spent worlds of time editing, and he's curious if there's a possibility of limiting the user's access to right-clicking any picture and saving it to their local machine.

I know this is possible within certain joomla photo gallery components, but what about the regular mosimages throughout the site? I realize if the site was flash then the issue would be solved, but thank God, its joomla!!

Any ideas as to how to customize a Joomla! site to pop up a window when a picture is right clicked that says "Sorry!"

Thanks for your help!

YEs you can do a java script that will disable right click on the image. But, it is so easy to work around that it isn't really worth the trouble. Simply disabling java in the browser eliminates teh protection.
You safest bet is a low opacity watermark across the work. You could also do a digitally encoded watermark but they really do SFA.
