Greening|Greenfield - Environmental Education Initiative w/CiviCRM Implemented
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:25:38 PM »

Website URL:
http://www.greeninggreenfield.net {Simplix Theme}

Additional Extensions (Components, Modules, Plug ins): CiviCRM, JCE Administration, JoomlaPack, Xmap

Custom Development: Banner Rotation, CSS Customization for look and feel of previous site. Slide show with Ken-Burns effect. The back-end of the relies heavily on the use of CiviCRM for organization operations.

Other Features: We use this site to not only promote the environmental education component, but to also house our organizations database. We plan to have donors log into the site, and update their information, etc. Currently contributions are accepted from our Sponsors through site, which is linked exclusively to PayPal. We use Google Apps for Business Productivity and plan to use API's to integrate DimDim Web Conferencing into the site. The banner rotation is a neat feature. It rotates every time the page is refreshed.

Any specific areas of my site that I'd like feedback on, if any:
I'm having difficulty getting this site ranked extremely high on Google's search engine. I'm also scared that the typography in the site might not appeal to a broad audience. Feedback is requested.

Additional Comments: So far this site has been my prize possession. I keep extensive documentation on it, including maintenance records, versioning, etc. Right now I'm training the end-users in using CiviCRM. There is also a test site, which I maintain along with this site, so that any major changes I make can be thoroughly tested before I implement them on the production website.

...just a couple of things I noticed; when using IE7 (aka Internet Destroyer), there is no pointer for your menu links...just shows the "I" rather than a hand...could drop cursor: pointer; in your template_css. Wink

Also, when I navigate to "plan," the site thumbnails extend beyond the confines of the typical page size, thereby running off the screen to the right and requires scrolling...could tweak this a bit...perhaps a row of 5 and a row of 4 under the row of 5, perhaps?  Smiley

[edit] Same with Events....forced to scroll to the right to see them all, even at 1440x900.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried to implement that css code you suggested to no avail. I'm probably placing it wrong... I decided to <br> the sections of pictures. We're working on new content, which should be up very shortly, so a lot of stuff maybe changed around.
