Firebug and FF3.0.1 problems???
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:26:33 AM »

Anyone else lost firebug from the toolbar and the icon from the rh side of the status bar since Firefox 3.0.1 installed itself??  Even reinstalling doesn't do it and FF still thinks it has to install it when showing add ons

The latest I presume.  I can't tell because there is no Firebug menu item or anyway of accessing firebug.  The only time I see it is when I go to Get Add-ons, it does the install process, restarts and that's it - no Firebug

Another wierd one is that I've just managed to install firecookie and that is listed now in the extensions tab but no Firebug !

Yeah that's the one from the addon site I've tried to reinstall.

The extensions folder {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} in AppDate/blah/blah/blah is installed but it's empty.  If I delete that folder and reinstall it creates the folder again.  I've even tried a manual install.  I'm just about to unzip the xpi file into the above directory to see what that does

Edit: Nope nogo unless you know how to run the installers from a directory Cheesy

Have you tried asking at http://groups.google.com/group/firebug ?

John, the guy running Firebug, is quite responsive so he may know of the source of the issue.

I've solved it for now by completly uninstalling FF and user data.  If it happens again I'll post on the FireBug site.  Thanks for your help anyway James  Cheesy

I have the same problem. When I installed Firefox V3.0.1 this morning, it told me that Firebug is not compatible with this version of Firefox. It also said that I would be advised when there was a compatible version available.

You'll probably have to upgrade manually by going to the ADDONS site and finding firebug again and installing.

True. I just went to the Firefox addon site, and there is a version 1.2 of Firebug, which needs Firefox 3.x to work. Installed it, and everything is good again! Cheesy

Hey - guess what

Firebug just updated to b7 and it's gone missing again - reinstall and it's still not there.  Now is it a Firebug problem or FF3 problem??  Who knows but it looks like I'm going back to FF2 as that didn't crash, lose any extentions it just did what it said on the tin
