WP over Joomla on Mac?
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:11:26 PM »

A lot of applications for the Mac seems to be able to remotely administrate a WP site or similar. But searching around these types of programs seems to be missing for Joomla? Yves pointed me to Blogg-X at some point, but that program seems to be dead-ish... The creator of Blogg-X has not been seen in a year or so, no Joomla 1.5 support etc..

So my first question - anyone know of an alternative to Blogg-X that runs on a Mac as well?

I really dig the option of remotely control my content and being able to integrate my Mac workflow with my site and this just seem to be much more supported with WP... I have actually thought about going WP for my Joomla tutorials site, but it feels like blasphemy thinking this way Smiley

Hints, options, tricks, ideas, links - share your thoughts!

Best Regards

It would be a fairly easy task to create a mac or vista widget to manage content from your desktop, but it also doesn't seem to make much sense. If you are going to edit your site from the desktop, why not just log in using your browser.

Now a Drupal & WP feature (and maybe this is what you are talking about) that is quite nice is posts/submissions via e-mail. This is handy because you can add content from a blackberry or other portable phone/pda.

I use a plugin for Firefox which loads any content of a textarea into TextMate and edit it there. Its much better editing in textmate than the Joomla content box.

Well try and install WP and MarsEdit and you will know why.. First of all it just works a lot faster. For instance if you need to edit the post some times during a day it gets a bit repetitive  opening up your browser, login, upload photos and edit. With MarsEdit you just open one program and nothing else. It is also better when you are offline, making articles ready. And if you use other programs like screenshot software, graphics editors the workflow just becomes more normal in my opinion.

You can write and edit Joomla articles directly in Coda?
Well that is definitely new to me.

I am not talking about editing php and css files, but manage the actual content, categories etc..

Like live writer?

I post from Office to my blogs - 1 click and done.  Supports a vast range of CMS's though Joomla is not one of them.  Office OSX may do it though Word and Excel on my Mac Sux (putting that nicely)
