Wish I was. The last one I attended was in 1998 as a student. It was a blast!

I was supposed too attend this years WWDC, but due to some minor problems with work( well, that would be  that I just have to attend to work) I won't be able to make. So I had to sell my pass to some bloke I know, and I even had a pass to attend the keynote.

Work. Why do I even do it?  Cry

What did you guys think of the Keynote today?  I thought the iPhone pricing part and the added gps support for iPhone made me smile.  I may have one sooner than I think.

Also, Snow Leopard?  Can't wait to see that.  I don't really have complete thoughts on the keynote yet, because when it was live, I had been awake for 22 hours.  I will have to go back and see a re-cap of the events talked about.

Good things coming from Apple!

snow leopard better be a free update that's all i can say... It's one of those nice to haves but nothing critical. Some optimizations and cleanup with exchange support.  Sorry, i'll pass unless it's just plain faster and more reliable.

iphone3g however looks like a worthy improvement with 3g and gps + cheaper.  Really can't go wrong there.

Would LOVE to go to one of these Mac events.

If I ever did a tour of the US, it would be timed to coincide with one of these things, even nicer if it was at the launch of the next gen iMac.

As for Snow Leopard, the name says it all, and Apple have said as much as well. It's Leopard with modifications for the future, under the hood that won't be seen by ordinary users.

They appear to be laying the foundation for the next several years of OS upgrades with the capabilities of whatever they are planning to be the future of the OS, the hardware, and the platform.

With no new features that can be SEEN by ordinary users, its a product that can't be sold, even if it is better under the hood. That would be like Rocket re-releasing HIVEMIND as a release of the month with no new visible features to anyone, but its been re-written under the hood, it might be better for the future of websites using it, but it wouldn't wash, and it wouldn't be saleable, and it would damage reputation.

Snow Leopard with no new features = FREE UPGRADE.

And thats if Apple is being truthful, and not misleading as to it's actual direction and capabilities of the next upgrade!

Something else Apple has stated publicly was that TOUCH on the desktop was at least 18 months away, and lets not mention HP already has a TOUCH desktop on the market, and SONY has already released an OLED, plus Apple is blazing the way with TOUCH technology, and always embraces the latest and greatest.

Not trying to an Apple Soothsayer here, but the pieces fit together without any stretch of the imagination, and we can all see the evolution of computers over the next few years. Snow Leopard is just laying the foundation for those future pathways.

Lets not forget, OSX, as brilliant as it is, was conceived and written a VERY LONG (NEXT) TIME AGO!

Well, I doubt that Snow Leopard would be a free upgrade but without any specific details on the changes, its hard to really to have a definitive opinion on it.

I will probably buy it though, I like new shiny things Smiley

You never can tell what Apple will do, it's not like they ever give advance notice of their plans, and it's not their nature to give anything away for free, or at less than premium price.  Grin

But 10.1 was FREE.

In fact, I hate the future Mac predictors, c'mon... get a life. All I can comment on is what THEY have stated themselves, which is the name, which is a variation of Leopard, and saying straight off the bat that its purpose is to be a foundation for the next several  OSs'.

And with their famed secrecy, no one can ever predict what's going to come next, so it's really a null and void subject, apart from taking a few minutes out and trying to unravel their words, and imagine whats coming next in the world of Mac computing.

But without new features and asking for a paid investment, I'm with Andy, no upgrade.
