One question: That last one, the new iMac, there's no tower?!? I thought they were just showcasing the monitor, but after checking out the Apple site, it appears the guts are housed in the monitor, in and of itself? Say it isn't so...
a friend to me coem home and ask if i had buy a new monitor, i sad, no it´s a new computer.

If your iMac feels lonely on your desk, you can give him a little brother.

We had to get a new machine for our 5 and 6 year olds, and since we homeschool, and I've always been an apple proponent (owned stock since the mid 80s!), we figured we'd give the latest gen iMac a shot. The integration was a big selling feature, it's like having a laptop except that *when* they spill something on the keyboard (it hasn't actually happened, but you have to plan on it), it's just a keyboard replace if needed.
I've been hugely impressed with the 20" 2.66 iMac, the enginerring is (as expected) superb. I can't see/hear a fan at all and it's just been a fantastic, flawlessly functioning system. The kids totally love the builtin apps, esp photobooth.
Our son is a total technoweenie in training and makes pretty extensive use of the system. He was very concerned that I was loading windows (bootcamp) he wanted to make *SURE* that I wasn't going to disrupt the OSX install... He's already a total macphile.
Big thumbs up from us both too, and I have a *strong* suspicion that Susan's next laptop will *not* be sporting a Vista (shudder) badge
.
I'm still coming to terms with the interface difference, can't seem to change the homepage on Safari for instance, but it's really, REALLY nice. I'd kill for the silent performance of the iMac, my Dell XPS gaming rig gives off a really nasty high pitched fan whine :-(.

Well... We mainly use FF on our PCs (come on FF3! woohoo!), but we thought we'd start the kids out on Safari, ::shrug:: as soon as I finish installing bootcamp I'll pull down a copy of FF2 and set them up with it. I totally hear you on the extentions though, Firebug should be mandatory for anyone doing any web dev work.
And I do use headphones when practical, but a lot of the time it's not... And that's when the whine gets to me. ::wince::
On the positive side, I have to say the bootcamp install process is pretty painless, slooooow as I think it defaulted to a 1X CD-Rom driver during XP install, but pretty clean and simple. another thumbs up for Apple.

Funny how people argue about mac is better or pc is better similar to Firefox and IE. I love my Mac more than any computer device I've ever owned and used but never really say that it's only Mac. There are things that you can do on one and not on the other, not only OS but hardware.
IMHO, it's all about requirements and cost. If Mac is better then why are large corporation not going for Mac? Same as still using IE rather than FF? Still will end up because of cost and requirements. Why not make them work together and have fun.
Having said all that... GO MAC!

i have switch a small buissness from win to mac. that was not a easy thing, trust me.
It is many times that there is full interoperability between different programs / structures within a company.
Look at just distinct difference between Outlook 2007 and Entourage 2008.
