Pictures. We need pictures. Product reviews, first impressions, need input. I'm thinking about making the switch and I'd like to hear from a person, not a sales brochure.

Yep, I've contracted the virus, too....

Had one years ago and dumped it but that's a different story...

Actually, I needed a Mac to Beta test some software.

Anyway, I got an Mac Mini, the cheapest way to get your feet wet.

Just the computer, no monitor, no mouse, no keyboard.

Still fiddling around with it, and can't say for sure, but I think I like it.

For me the best feature so far, localization!

With Windows, if you want an English OS and English Office software, and a Japanese OS and Japanese Office software, you need at least a dual boot configuration, or two separate computers.

Although it's not advisable, you can install two copies of Office on one machine, but that still doesn't solve the problem of localization of the OS menus.

So, I got my Mini, and installed iWorks '08.

Created two user accounts, selected the English for the first, Japanese for the second.

Now when I switch accounts, the OS is localized for the user - no reboot, just switch users!

Not only that, the iWorks interface changes, everything, menus, help, etc.

I don't know if all Mac software is written this way but what a pleasant surprise; one OS, one iWorks, two languages!

Theoretically, you could add ten users and ten different languages.

A great solution for anyone that need more than one language on the cheap.

Once it arrives I will see what I can do Smiley

I used to be a superstar on an Apple IIe with assembly language. Wink But my flu was recently cured when I priced a 17" laptop. 3x as expensive as the monster I just bought, so I couldn't pull the trigger, despite how much I love them. I just can't justify the price premium. *hides from flying objects*

Thanks Andy!

I do have to mention the following...

If you get a Mini without an Apple monitor, keyboard and mouse, it does lose a little of the WOW factor.

Just not the same with the spare beige flat screen and a black wireless keyobard and mouse I had hanging around.

A little like dropping the engine of a '08 Mustang GT into an '85 AMC Gremlin.
