Joomla Version 1.5.1 / Template Media Mogul

Additional Extensions:

  • SectionEx
  • Sobi2 Directory
  • joomlaXplorer
  • Joomla Comment
  • Xmap

Other Features:

Custom Development: logo's and the usual stuff like icons here and there.
Seyret Video Component is something I am considering, or at least some type of video/media solution, any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated.

Specific areas of my site that I'd like feedback on:

How it looks in IE6, I use FF and it is fine there, however some articles are not adjusted to the left in IE6, if anyone has any ideas that would help! I have used a fix that James was good enough to come up with, all looks ok but if you see anything please let me know.

Additional Comments:

I just love Joomla Comment for my blogs, what a breeze to set up, and SectionEx brings it all together so easily. I'm embarrassed to mention this but it has taken me almost a year to figure out what breadcrumbs are. I've been looking for mods and components everywhere and  after all my efforts all I had to do was to switch the breadcrumbs on. auhh Roll Eyes

There was a component I used "specialhtmal for adsense" this is a great component but there was an obvious link back to the developer each time I used it which kinda put me of using it. The Sobi2 Directory isn't supported for J1.5.1 but it seems to be working well enough for me, the team at thier support site are always helpful.

Anyway, I work in the transport industry, you would never have guessed that!  Grin I am and can be a bit of a plane spotter, I put this site together for a bit of fun for my colleagues at work, it just kinda grew arms and legs thanks to Joomla. I think I've developed deap vein thrombosis with the amount of time I've taken to learn what Joomla has to offer.

I initially posted this site in here just over a month ago, as you can see it never caught anyone's eye, either I've done a poor job and its just not worth someone's effort to post a comment or there is a problem with my link.

1st April 2008
Upgraded my phpbb2 forum to phpbb3, wow what a difference.

Thanks ....

Ok, I managed to get half way down page 6 without any comments, hence this post to bring me back.

Is the site that bad? Sad

I have updated / modified my first post to reflect some addition components that I have introduced to the site. I've got big shoulders, feel free to openly criticize!

Kind Regards

Nothing worse than a site that gets no comments - good or bad...

Looks good - rotating gallery works well with your pics.

Only suggestions would be try to have six teaser items on front main content? - may look a little more balanced (not always possible of course - but the white space lets the eye wander out of content)

The wrapped forum - the page goes on a long way down - did you set a page size in the wrap config? You can set to auto to avoid inside scroller - needs to be on same server though.

I personally prefer Mosets Tree for directories - can be a bit tricky to set up but worth it and looks very tidy.

DVT is a hazard of this job...

Cheers

...don't let Mr. G see more than 3 of his ads on any one page. Smiley

I couldn't view more than a couple pages...actually went out to get a drink and was still loading the home page. I got half way into downloaded the first 'about us' link and I gave up.

I'll try again later...

Many thanks, yes, six teasers sounds the better option. I have modified the front page to reflect this.

My forum/wrapper is an issue, the intention is to upgrade to phpbb3 soon, time permitting the idea is to have the forum on the same server and include a bridging component. At the weekend my server was was relocated and the site was down for 24hrs. Now that's its settled in its new home I will consider the new forum a high priority.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the heads up with Mr G "I have acted on your advice, I don't want to get on his wrong side) some ads now removed.

My hosting company have moved location, my sites were down for 24hrs. True to their word they had all services back up and running in the time frame they set. "thankfully it went better than British Airways move into terminal 5 at London Heathrow"

Any site performance issue is possible me always refreshing the site after i do several updates in a short space of time.

Thanks for the response.
