Colorado Springs Real Estate - Catalyst
« on: February 11, 2008, 04:18:46 AM »

Website URL: http://www.amileabove.com

Additional Extensions: SOBI2

Custom Development: A few graphics, modified featured listing template (SOBI2)

UPDATE: Changed to catalyst template. Instructions to modify SOBI2 into a Real Estate listing is here: http://www.sigsiu.net/forum/index.php/topic,12740.0.html

I've always just made websites for fun, this is my first attempt at a "real" website. It's a Colorado Springs based realty company. I've got the featured homes installed and a wrapper to the MLS. I'm sure someone out there has built a real estate website and will be able to immediately point something out that I'm missing. That's what I need right now. Any help is appreciated.  Grin

Nice, clean site.  I live in C/S and glad to see anything related.  Did you work off a template or did you design from scratch?  I noticed that you used fireboard in joomla1.5....are you doing so in native mode?

Thank you James. I used Elixer2.0, you should be able to check it out in the demo sites here at rockettheme.  I'm actually using Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable. Haven't quite made the hop to 1.5 yet.  Smiley

I like it. I also use ez-realty on one of my customer's sites, and that is an amazing component. The only recommendation I have is to give the forum a full-width (remove the left modules), and it would be clean. Good job

I have a real estate client who wants to be able to export to yahoo classifieds, Trulia, and Oodle.com.  Does anyone know of a plug-in/component that will work for this - I haven't seen this option on EZ-Realty.  Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks guys- @emily, can't seem to find anything that would export to those- maybe you could hack up a form component like chronoforms or something.  Huh

Hmmm... good idea if that doesn't work, maybe we'll resort to just using MLS...  Thanks for looking - I appreciate it!

Great idea wrapping the MLS... why didn't I think of that! Shocked

Nice site and well done - I'll be using that MLS wrapper idea here soon; www.ateahrealty.com .

Cheers!

Heheh, yeah it was either the wrapper, or pay these guys a couple hundred to move the MLS into the Openrealty component. I chose the latter.

You probably could not use a wrapper for an agent though as it may show the sites actual office name correct? Unless of coarse the agent was from the same office.

You're right, you just want to use a wrapper for the MLS. If it is from another agents page it wouldn't make much sense because 1) you will be losing hits to the other agent and 2) if you wrapped to the MLS instead you would be getting 1000% percent more properties displayed. Although I think some MLS's require the agent to have a membership in order to sell from them.

If you are in the situation where you need to list agents within your own office I would suggest getting a realty component, grabbing the "other" agents MLS #'s and updating manually for them.

Hey guys. If you're looking for a good real estate component try customizing SOBI2. It's a little quicker than the others. I made some instructions for anyone who wants their featured listings look like this
