Hey all! Long time no see, I know... been working on this new project, and of course it takes twice as long and costs twice as much, LOL!

PLEASE NOTE: This site has adult content. No nudity, but adult language. Please do not visit if this might offend you. ALSO, ALL possibly offensive content is hidden behind registration, because I am very concerned about child safety on the web (if you want my whole shpiel, click on the Family Friendly link at the bottom of any of my pages). If you would like to register to play around and test, then request that I remove your registration, please feel free to do so...

It's good to be back in the thick of developing, though, I'll say.

Website URL: http://www.nookienotes.com/index.php (not *quite* yet in production)

Additional Extensions (Components, Modules, Plug ins):

Community Builder
eQuotes
FlexAdvert
JContentSubscription
JomComment
JosReplace (LOVE that mambot!)
MyBlog
RWCards

Also, Acajoom Pro, iDevAffiliate Fireboard, and GroupJive ready for future development phases.

Custom Development:
Oh gosh, lots... (and James was a godsend with a bunch of it).

First of all, you will see the template looks quite different from the original. I took some screenshots of Populus in RT, combined them into a single JPG and used them as a trace image in fireworks to create my original concept. Worked like a charm, I have to say.

I also changed the names of the modules and added in some module positions (copied user 1, 2, and 3 again below their original positions). The names I changed so as the site is worked on by people other than myself,t he names make sense, they are l1, l2 etc for the left, r1, r2 for the right and so on.

Also created a separate template to apply to just the home page with home page module positions that are the same as the modules on the other pages, but with an _h after them. That way as I grow, it will be easy to specify that certain modules show ONLY on the interior pages, but not the home page (like advertisement for affiliate programs - I don't ever want to send someone from my home page away from my site).

Did a lot of typography and CSS styling/customizing. This is not as evident in the content I have up, but in the content that is actually for sale and the sample content, it is quite visible.

Any specific areas of my site that I'd like feedback on, if any: Not all of the content is in, but I'd like to know what interested you the most, what stood out, and what confuses you (if anything)...

Also screenshots of weirdness in various browsers are very welcome.

Oh, and if you preview an RW card, the menu overlays it... I figure it needs z-index somewhere, any thoughts on this?

Additional Comments: The site is aimed at women in committed relationships, of course we hope to attract men to buy as gifts for wives and GFs, and eventually will have the stories from a male POV... I also know that singles will find the site and use it, but they are not the target market.

The top part of the home page is being redesigned... from "What is" currently on the site to something like the attached image. More friendly, relationship focused I think.

I am not yet quite sure how best to accomplish the in static content with CSS... if you have suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them. I know I could just do an image, but I am NOT wild about that idea...

Can't think of the word I want to use to describe how each of your sites feel, but they look fantastic.

One thing, on NookieNotes the link back to your site is broken.

domain name itself is attention getter....site is beautiful.....my only wish when I surfed the site was a bit more of a teaser....but then again isn't that the point?

Davida, Thank you. Thanks especially for saying it looks nothing like the template. That is often my goal with site designing. I love the templates that RocketTheme produces, but (if I have time and funds) I always want to make things my (or rather the company's) own as much as possible.

Toni, Thanks... One of my other Faves is: http://www.focusonthecoast.com

Sure, thank you... would you be willing to elaborate? I like the idea of teasing further, but would be interested in what your thought is on this.

Well, I wanted to give the site a review last weekend, but I got sick and am just now feeling better.  So, I have some catching up to do first.  But I will give you this...

My first reaction - RUNNING SHOES.  Just picture the cartoon where smoke is trailing from where the guy was standing in the middle of the room to right out the open door.   Tongue

Peace,
William

Heather: To elaborate further on the teaser comment above;
I believe that maybe providing a partial nookienote followed by a registration nudge may be more productive/seducing to gain registrants.
Right now when you click "try a free sample click here" on the frontpage it takes you straight to
"You are not authorised to view this resource.
You need to login."  with a random comment beneath it. No direct link to register to view the free sample or other instructions.

With some browsing through the site I did find a partial note in the blog section, and I understand the child friendly adult nature of the site.
( I have some very strict rules when I do any kind of erotica/adult sites for clients including a landing/warning page containing nothing naked before entering site etc.)

So in keeping with a constructive criticism comment:  you may need to experiment/tweak the teaser a bit for optimal results. Give it a KISS so to speak.... Kiss

Sure, THANK YOU. That link on the home page SHOULD have taken you directly to the registration page, and now does. All three of the other "Try a FREE Sample" links on the home page do, except that one, LOL!

Onther thing I am working on is putting styled HTML into the "You are not authorized" include. I'd really like this to be a page that explains our policy further and directs them to the registration...

So, I think I am headed in the direction that you are suggesting, I just had a bit of a tree blocking the path with that  innaccurate link! Cheesy

Thanks again! This is exactly what I need!

GollumX - LMAO! Thanks!

Thank you, Phillip... The host I prefer is WestHost They are not only inexpensive, but they have amazing service. That is not who I am using for this site, and I am still looking for that level of service in a company that allows "adult content," but WestHost has been wonderful, with 24 hour PHONE support, if you need it.

http://www.westhost.com

If you do go with them, tell them Heather Claus at upgradeco.com recommended you...
