Thanks Mario,
I cannot switch to linux:) I dont know anything about it.
I installed Mysql for windows but I need a Mysql database name to use joomla administration page. Do I really have to get MySql Database name?
So,
If I have windows, i cannot use Mysql.
If I dont have Mysql, i cannot use Joomla.
Is that correct?

You can give ubuntu a try but only if you feel like it, no need to know linux... ;-).
You can run it off cd so no need to install,
But shortest and easiest route for you would be to install WAMP, there is a dead-easy version called XAMPP,
find it
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
.
The database name you need for Joomla (not just administrator part ) is just one YOU make up when installing, it will be created on mysql if you have it running, that's all. Mysql is the database manager, not the database, it handles all databases, joomla just needs to create one for its self, using mysql, hope this makes it somewhat clearer for you...
Oops, just read your previous posts, your hosting provider doesn't support mysql for windows and your hosted with this guy?
Give it a try on your home pc first then (using xampp joomla and your RT template..), if you decide to become a joomla buff, you can always swap to linux hosting, as you still don't need to know linux if your provider uses cpanel or something like that where your can manage your account. Or change hosting providers. You do mean HOSTING provider right? Not your internet provider. I'm VERY happy with bluehost, but that's just me (found them thru the forums here).

However, when i go to mysite.com i get a parent directory list. I dont get a proper admin site. What have I done wrong? How can I delete joomla and start again?

Hi Seda,
What folder did you upload your Joomla files to?
The folder that Joomla should reside in is usually called
public_html
or
httdocs

In that list are missing some php files, did you run all the installation process before to erase the installation folder?

Hi Seda, is this after your ran the Joomla installation? i.e. were guided thru the screens to check file-permissions, give a site name and description, database name etcetc? Or did u just ftp all joomla stuff to yoursite.com?
Check out the tutorial on joomla.org:

Hello,
That screen was displayed after I install and register then remove 'Installation Folder'' from my FTP.
I removed all files and start all over again. I received one error on the first screen. Please see my screen shot
http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=joomlascreenshotbg0.jpg
Under the fist bit, where it says ''requested Setting Check'' , Session Save path is red and ''Unwritable'' .Is that ok to carry on registration? If not, how can I solve that? Maybe that's why I had that issue.
Many thanks,
PS: I watched so many installation videos they dont show such an error.

I'm using Firefox's FireFTP and successfully navigated to... /public_html/my domain/... which contains the index.php file that the tutorial says I can use to manipulate my Vortex theme's options (color, etc.).
I downloaded it so that I could edit it, opened it w/ Adobe GoLive CS2 (which I'm not familiar w/ but find is the default program), but then didn't find the text described in the tutorial.
Are there multiple index.php files?
Thanks for helping a newbie! I'm eager to get started.
