Wow, this is excellent. I've been using virtual machines to run the different browser so far but that takes up a load of space and the VMs can be slow sometimes. Much better solution. Many thanks!

Another site to try that just came online in the past few months. I've only used it a little but it gives you an interface to test your website not only in various browser versions, but also on different OS's where you have free reign to configure the whole OS, install plugings etc. You are not just seeing screenshots, you are actually remotely controlling a virtualized pc. www.crossbrowsertesting.comI think they must be using VMware or some other type of virtualization environment. A little slow at times to load up (yet much faster and more helpful than browsershots.com), but a great idea!!

Also just an FYI, at work we are not allowed to use this alone aas a testing method as it has a few quirks and does sometimes display things differently than an actual pc running IE6.
I use it on mine work computer, but it has to go through a QA on IE6, which is running on a PC with only IE6 and the QA douchebag always finds some fluke thats obscure as crap with stupid IE.
And FYI 8 passes the acid three test.
Speaking of * has anyone tried optimiZing for it yet? We got a beta and it freaking broke the crap out of everything. no matter what tag we put in there. oh the horror!!
Well i a now done so have a splendidly good evening and may your dreams be amazing and inspiring.

I do have a good little addon for this Multi IE. I have the option to "Open Link in" IE6, IE7 and Opera. So if I want to check a site in multiple browser easily, just takes a few clicks James, do you have a link pls ? thanks Mario

I had to set the path manually for IE6, it won't find that automatically as its run via MultiIE

Good information. Very useful when you need to test backwards compatibility. Although the version displayed at Help > About it's still your actual version.

I only every IE for testing purposes and is safely locked away in my Virtual Machine I have IE7 standalone and kept IE6 native because the standalone version of IE7 seems more stable that its IE6 counterpart and this setup allows for both IE6 and IE7 to be using the IE Dev Tool which is a must. IE dev tool doesn't work with standalone IE6 in my experience. So, IE7 standalone from tredosoft and IE6 from Microsoft
