I'm starting to think about a redesign for RocketTheme sometime in the next few months, and will probably revamp the RocketTheme logo while I'm at it.  If you submit a logo idea and I use it as a basis for the new RT logo i'll bestow cash and material rewards upon you :)

Your idea reminds me of the new stylized "M" that Microsoft is now using as their favicon.ico on their websites.

Andy's theme is a nice revision. I like the fact that it's not too far from the current one. I'm crushed, however, by the lack of enthusiasm for mine.

The standout in my mind is Christopher's bold minimalist take, and though I thought I could possibly attempt something along those lines...I learned long ago that there is no substitute for perfection!

This is just a bit of variation to the one Andy posted, I really like that direction...in the same spirit as the old logo but with a slightly new take. Here is my quickie :)

i actually have versions on red and black, i've not decided on the new template design at all yet, but a cornerstone of logo design is it shouuld work on on white and black.

Actually, I like the current logo you are using Andy.  And I also like Phillip's, Kevin's, and Andy's revamps... I just thought, hey, let me have a go at it....free bling?  Why not.  ;D   But I am not a very good designer.. :-\

Had some time to do a few sketches.. Mostly based on the same concept but with a few colour variations and similar.

Im a big fan of the softer logo concepts, ones with less ridgidness and hard edges, as well as softer blended colors; Youve captured that blend of subtle yet vibrant perfectly in my opinion, Im lovin it! :)

Personally I love the current logo - and would be sorry to see it go - I was anxiously awaiting the baseball cap

Really like what Thomas has done - In my humble opinion I would use one of his concepts but would keep the original "retro" style rocket inside the little square icon.

I reckon the retro rocket is timeless and is a strong and recognisable brand inside the Joomla community. You can always modify or update the box it is housed in to suit current design trends etc...

Also Andy I do like the improved marketing slogan - "taking design to new heights"

Being a marketing and branding professional, I believe that the current logo has a brand history. Among those that would use RT templates, the current logo is well known and easily identifiable.

A question that you might ask yourselves is, "Can my logo be easily transferred to one color line art - letterhead, envelopes, etc.?" I believe that the current logo can.

I love the burst of excellent creativty, but I would hesitate changing the logo and the color scheme. It has added value to it already. Maybe a new site design using the same logo and color scheme. To me the site still has a year of usefullness left.

Just my 2 cents...

I have to agree with everything Dave G. said I really like what you have now it's simple, professional and effective.

To paraphrase the old saying "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T SCREW AROUND WITH IT" especially on the basis of "I fancy something different".

I would kill for a logo of this quality for www.autos.co.uk (http://www.autos.co.uk) or www.seriousgadgets.co.uk (http://www.seriousgadgets.co.uk) (hint hint).

I will second that... the logo for rocket theme is probably one of the most easily recognisable logos i have come across when it comes to joomla.. to be honest i would base any new site design around the rockettheme logo as opposed to the other way around..

Unfortunately my artistic skills have gone to Australia so im just going to say an idea :D How about a horizontal rocket with "Rocket" on it following by a snazzy flame with the overlaying "theme" :D

But in saying that its purly from a marketing opinion of brand stability.

But for the goodies pack ;) I did this... actually to tell the truth I did it a while back for a desktop icon for my rocket theme goodies folder on my desktop!

In the design ideas where "Rocket Theme" is in italics but the rocket is going straight up, it feels to me like there's some dissonance/tension there. I think the logo might become more unified either by keeping with the slant for the whole thing or else by going straight up and down. (My very small 2 cents!)  :)

hmm.. the chi is not good. we need it analysed by a feng shui expert.

maybe rotate the rocket 90 degrees to the right?

This is slightly off topic, but can you alter some of those logos to be "sponsor" badges. For example, for phpbb they have a little logo that you put on your website (88 x 31 pixels) It would be great to have a rocket theme one  ;D (white & black)

That is one of the reasons for the change of logo, the current logo does not scale well to small sizes.  The details are lost and the highlights become obscured.  I'm looking to simplify the logo to make work better for different sizes and different mediums.. actually the logo has been finalized at this point, tested in print, web, etc.  and we're very happy with it.

any hint of when you'll be changing over to a new logo and template?  :P

just a matter of timing.  the plan is to release the new RT site on joomla 1.5. We're not going to wait till 1.5 is released, as it's pretty solid already.  The problem is that we need some key components working on 1.5 first.  Some stuff is currently in development, so we'll just have to wait a bit.

What about a sneak preview? and i dont mean 1 pixel (http://smcscience.com/muffin/smileys/^^.gif)

so does this mean 1.5 is probably stable enough to run a site on?
and does it mean 1.5 beta 2 will be upgradeable to 1.5 version.

i loved the old rocket much more. was in a great retro-style a remembered me to the times i was a child when i have seen this very old sience-fictions on tv an read jules verne.

Is the new look up and going now?  I seem to recall a design shift, but need some prompting.

Only the new logo is up, the new design hasn't been implemented yet.

I worked up a little logo/style treatment that's fun.  Not that y'all need any help. Thanks for all the great work, RT.
