Thank God for medication! (http://www.apple.com/imac/) Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Roland Deschain on May 06, 2008, 11:52:04 AM ;) :D
Lol Thomas! So you bought a Mac eh? I'm sure that you will enjoy it, best of luck to you friend! Cheers Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Thomas on May 06, 2008, 12:51:25 PM Yeah I finally had the guts to press the buy now button...
The new updated 24" imac running at 3ghz with 8800gs seemed like a no-brainer really.. Btw the virus I was talking about was the Mac Flue in case I scared every one away from RT ;) Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Mack on May 06, 2008, 06:01:57 PM Pictures. We need pictures. Product reviews, first impressions, need input. I'm thinking about making the switch and I'd like to hear from a person, not a sales brochure.

Had one years ago and dumped it but that's a different story... Actually, I needed a Mac to Beta test some software. Anyway, I got an Mac Mini, the cheapest way to get your feet wet. Just the computer, no monitor, no mouse, no keyboard. Still fiddling around with it, and can't say for sure, but I think I like it. For me the best feature so far, localization! With Windows, if you want an English OS and English Office software, and a Japanese OS and Japanese Office software, you need at least a dual boot configuration, or two separate computers. Although it's not advisable, you can install two copies of Office on one machine, but that still doesn't solve the problem of localization of the OS menus. So, I got my Mini, and installed iWorks '08. Created two user accounts, selected the English for the first, Japanese for the second. Now when I switch accounts, the OS is localized for the user - no reboot, just switch users! Not only that, the iWorks interface changes, everything, menus, help, etc. I don't know if all Mac software is written this way but what a pleasant surprise; one OS, one iWorks, two languages! Theoretically, you could add ten users and ten different languages. A great solution for anyone that need more than one language on the cheap. Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Terp on May 06, 2008, 08:40:39 PM I used to be a superstar on an Apple IIe with assembly language. ;) But my flu was recently cured when I priced a 17" laptop. 3x as expensive as the monster I just bought, so I couldn't pull the trigger, despite how much I love them. I just can't justify the price premium. *hides from flying objects*

Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: JEM618 on May 07, 2008, 02:35:42 PM Thanks Andy!
I do have to mention the following... If you get a Mini without an Apple monitor, keyboard and mouse, it does lose a little of the WOW factor. Just not the same with the spare beige flat screen and a black wireless keyobard and mouse I had hanging around. A little like dropping the engine of a '08 Mustang GT into an '85 AMC Gremlin. Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Jeff Brown on May 08, 2008, 01:03:52 PM HEY I love the Gremlin
Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Terp on May 08, 2008, 02:34:46 PM HEY I love the Gremlin ..lest we forget the Pacer, too! Classic. ;) Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: Thomas on May 09, 2008, 03:10:16 PM Just got the long awaited e-mail (3 days) telling me my order has been shipped....
I have been in a weird mood computer wise since the order, i mean this could be a life changing experience :) I have bought so many Mac books and magazines trying to get an idea of what Im getting into.. I am sure I will be hooked or at least be presented with something good looking every day instead of the old ugly windows machine... Next week and I will be able to unwrap it im sure :) Title: Re: Virus on this forum? Post by: James S! on May 10, 2008, 12:51:37 AM I got my macbook on Saturday and by Sunday I was hooked! :)
