The RocketTheme team, our dedicated moderators, and some of our good RT friends have been hanging out on IRC as a little place to chat and shoot the breeze.  I would like to invite anyone to join us there.  We are currently using the slashdot IRC service:

IMPORTANT: This is not a support channel it's a general chit-chat - water cooler type channel.  Any support questions will be referred to the forum.

If you have never used IRC before, it may be daunting and difficult to get it working. An easy option is to use Trillian or xchat and here are a simple set of instructions on how to get on

Xchat & IRC

There are many IRC clients, one is xchat, download from http://www.xchat.org/

Open the program and fill out your details into the fields on the popup. Select SlashNET from the list of servers.

Click Connect.

A popup should then appear, labelled "Connections to SlashNET Complete".

Select the Join a Channel option and type #rockettheme

Trillian & IRC.

You can download Trillian at http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/

Once you have installed Trillian, open the program and a little "console window" should appear. Select Trillian > Trillian Preferences > http://Plugins. Activate the IRC plugin with the tick box next to it

Go to Identities & Connections > Click Add New Connection > IRC >

Type into the fields
#rockettheme
irc.slashnet.org
*Your Nickname*
*Your Username*
*Your User Info*

-> Connect

Go back to the Trillian console screen (may need to click on the icon in the bottom right taskbar of your monitor)

Select the small glass, icon button underneath your avatar > Join a Channel > #rockettheme

A window should then popup which is the IRC Channel

Record breaking 9 folks in IRC right now!!!!

it's working, you might want to try "radon.slashnet.org" as the server.

Must be the network in my area or something....none of them seem to work.  :-[

I use radon.slashnet.org - works for me.

freenode is for gpl projects and the like.  We were there but technically we shouldn't of been.

Try changing your login details.

Also try another client.  XChat, MIRC, etc on windows, colloquy, linkinux, etc on mac, xchat, etc on linux

Well, I've added the channel to my IRC startup - was amazed. Only 5 people there, popped in, said hi, and all responded! Asked a question, got a url in minutes. Flabbergasted is what I was :)

Don't forget to add a webchat client from the RT site (for logged in users I guess) if you haven't already. Will take care of all those mobile people :)

Didn't know people still use mIRC anymore; seems like a decade ago when I lived on it. :) Hell, back before the "PowWow" days. :)

You guys have chat? :o  I didn't know that. :P  Oh, that is dangerous for all...I will make it a point not to go there. ::) I'd get or cause to much trouble.  ;D Wow, I am really thinking I should maybe put chat on one of my sites now...at least I won't kick myself off.  :-X

Ah.., old time for me  ::). I used to stay in IRC way too long, actually that is where I got introduced for the very first time to the web design world. I can give a little tip. It is always good to install in your PC  the mIRC script/software  it will help you connect way too easy to the channel and have more control of what you are doing.  I just hate JAVA and all its content when it comes to CHAT.

Take it from an old SOP (Super Operator) of #webmaster channel back in 2000-2004  nickname  AfterDark (irc.webmaster.com)

Here on the forum -- there is a delay from my mind to the post...chat is way to short... :P  So, I am sure it is a good group...but not for long if I come aboard.  ::)
