This is completely separate install. However, if you select the option to use the same database and tables, it will overwrite.

If no one has given ya props lately here it is.. That addition, for me, is very useful and I gotta say you guys raise the bar of "value added" in your work with each new month. Very impressive, you guys rock!  ;D

Login to Joomla! admin ->Go to Installers -> Templates-Site -> Browser -> Install -> Global -> Template Manager -> rt_elemental -> Default

This is all explained by the Manual at http://help.joomla.org

I think you guys are going to shoot yourselves in the foot on this one,, while I can appreciate this as answer to all those whinners " how do I make my site look like the demo".......... I wonder how many are going to overwrite their joom install and going to be back here..............whinning  :)

I'm trying to install it right now and got stuck at step 1 after I put in all info (Host name, MySQL user name and so on) clicked next and window "Opening install2.php" appeared. I opened in Macromedia Dreamweaver and it has empty page. What's next ???

Yes, but it's something new asking me at the step 1 when Joomla! installation will populate the database tables. If this step is successful your will be redirected to the second installation step and instead i'm getting:
"Opening install2.php

The new template has joomla, which means that we can install Joomla with it and the demo will be installed along. I have a joomla site, which already has contents in its database. I was thinking if there is a way that I can install the demo content with the template, without deleting the contents on my site. Normally, when we install Joomla, it deletes the current database and fill in a new one.

You will have to setup yourself.

You could get a SQL dump of the module settings etc... but unless you are used to database changes, I would not recommend it and it probably would not work :)

I attempted the upload to a site with a fresh install of 1.2 & Elemental - I get an error indicating that it was unable to upload due to media directory error. I uninstalled Elemental along with modules and bot prior to attempting to upload.

Any ideas on where to look?

Say, do you have a joomla install on your site already with a database?  If you do, try changing the prefix from jos_ to something else; otherwise go in a chnage the configuration.php files to match your current installation.  I have several iterations of joomla on my hosting site; I wanted to install another copy of joomla using one of my existing databases.  I just changed the jos_ to me_.

I ftp all files "all-in-one Joomla!+template+demo installer" doing FRESH install and RokLauncher doesn't want to go step 2.

Do you have a fresh database? What is with the ads?

You might want to turn display errors on in your php.ini whenever you get a "blank" page. There are relevant clues there without which it could be anyones guess what your problem is. Have you tried installing Joomla by itself to this account? Does it work or does it too throw errors? Are the installs you did before on this same server or is it a new hosting account? Versions change and with them default settings, if this is a new server I'd verify you can get any copy to install first. If it won't, turn errors on in your php.ini and start there  :)

Everything is fresh and brand new:site, database, account with Godaddy. What is with the ads ???
I haven't tried installing Joomla by itself yet to this account. And I have already one Joomla site on Godady for a year.

Like I said, versions change so that default Vserver you ordered with Godaddy a year ago will not be the same as what you have ordered now. I have all my servers with them and have had my share of headaches for that very reason. Definitely turn on errors and see what it throws, or, try a standard Joomla install and see if by chance that succeeds, though I'm guessing it won't. Best of luck, and remember to document what you find for future reference (might wanna post it here as well to save someone else the cranial bleed in the future  ;D )

BTW, lets hope that isn't the entire php.ini, that file should be many, many lines long... That is assuming you have a virtual server with them, if it's shared hosting all bets are off (you really want to have control of your server, I highly recommend going with a vserver)

If I understand this correctly, you are doing this the old-fashioned way with a brand new joomla install.

The Bot is a mambot Admin > Installers > Mambots :)

The SQL data for the demo site is included in the installer of the RocketLauncher Joomla install. When you run the RocketLauncher Joomla Installer, check the "Install Sample Data" box, and instead of installing the regular default Joomla sample data, it installs all of the demo custom content instead.

oh - darn, I thought it would bring in joomla data - any way to install Rocket data after the fact?

It almost exactly the same as installing Joomla! on a web server.

how comes when i download the rocketlauncher (cool name btw) and extract the files i get about a hundred 'could not create this file' messages... anything to do with Vista? i've tried it for versatility 3 and dark matter both get loads of failed to creates

I would imagine it is Vista or the extract software you are using.

i am using tugzip. .. so i guess there's nothing i can do. i uploaded whatever got extracted to www.guitarassault.com/joomla/ and nothing happens

Just installed this and for some reason my tiny editor isnt working.

Ive replaced all of the editor files again to see if that works and no joy.

I tried installing the Joomla DarkMatter RocketLauncher installer package and found several problems:

1. PNG transparency issue in IE6 (screenshot below):

but the PNG image disappears altogether, I don't know why, I've used this solution and had it working on a static HTML site before.

Any ideas how to fix this PNG transparency problem on IE6?
I know it's such a dreaded topic, I wish I didn't have to deal with it either but I really want to have transparent PNGs on my site.

2. Missing/misreferenced images:

I can easily fix this problem by copying the images to joomla/images folder, but I thought I'd point it out to you.

Does this have something to do with the buggy PNG fix on IE6?

Please do not host images at imageshack due to internet filters, please use the attach images feature.

You really should be not using transparent images unless you have to due to performance/size issues.

2# That is odd, it wants to load them from 2 locations. Place copies in the /images folder.

help,.... i download this type of installation (all in one) elemental - joomla 1.5 package ,.. then when everything is done, i am trying to install other module (rokslideshow) but unable to get it done,..

i did:
1. change the config into simple /temp and /logs
2.change the permision to 777 while wanted to install

but the same prob didnt happen on my other mechine.. dont know why..

I have a problem after I installed the elemental RocketLauncher and tried to switch to another template and set it to default template. What it seems to do is taking layout elements from both layouts... Basically it is a mix what you see live.

Can this be solved without doing a fresh install from joomla only and install different templates afterwards???

You may be getting confused as it is using the same content, the content isn't part of the template.

if i install a new cop of joomla to have the site like the demo.. its possibel to importat at least my members from the oldest version?

RocketLauncher does not work on all servers and this should be CLEARLY stated before visitors to this site become customers. Not being able to use any template is definitely not good!

In the RokFlow content code the descriptions are loaded from the text in the title="..." references.

newbie Question here.

MediaMogul template. Love it!!  So I did the rocket launch with sample content and it worked.  OK not the first time but I got it up there. Live on server.  Is there a tutorial or directions for most painless way to sub my content for sample content.  1st I turned everything to non-published as I work at subbing the real content. Is this just a matter of filling it all in or is there a secret?  Bill

The easiest way to get the Joomla basics is to visit http://help.joomla.org and http://docs.joomla.org - there is a downloadable manual from these locations as well.

Solution to problem below:

Remove the "E - encrypted" attribute from all files in the rocketlauncher zip.



Problem:

I've tried to use rocketlauncher for several 1.5 templates and they all fail with the following error:

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0

Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'C:/xampp/htdocs/Joomla_RT_HiveMind_j15/index.php' (include_path='.;C:\xampp\php\pear\') in Unknown on line 0


I have xampp installed at c:\xampp on a vista box. The basic Joomla 1.5 package installs fine by copying the unzipped joomla folder to the htdocs folder and running the install.

Any ideas why the rocketlauncher doesn't work like the basic joomla package?

I'm using dreamhost for my hosting and already have joomla installed.  Is there a way that I can just install the rocket launcher without the joomla install?

I'm not sure how dreamhost works from a technical standpoint, but my hunch is that it would still be easier and better for you to use the RocketLauncher package. The dreamhost Joomla feature is probably meant to save you a step or two, but RocketLauncher also has a one-step installation with everything you need integrated. Even if there was a way to do what you're asking (use existing Joomla install/install template/install sample data and modules), it would probably take several steps.

I spoke with Dreamhost about this and they cannot help me with this.  I have no choice but to install Joomla from their site and then integrate the template sample data and modules myself.  Would it be possible for you to give me instructions as to how to do this - assuming that I already have Joomla installed?

I cannot get the rocket launcher to run as well. I am trying to install the replicant RT installation and I have done everything step by step it is all on the server under the Public_html/joomla/Joomla_RT_Replicant_j15/but I cannot get this to pull up at all. can some please give me the command line to get the installer to launch.  I have done a joomla install before on another server and had no problem at all.  Why do I have to use my browser to do this when there is ftp and cpanel on the server itself to perform admin functions with.  I have never had a problem with a specific address before but I just keep getting a 404 error code when I use this one above.  Man this has been frustrating.  I am just about ready to give one of you J-masters access to my server to help me.  I await your replies!

Did you set the folder permissions to 755? Not doing that can cause a 404 on some servers.

I set them to 777 as the tutorial instructs...755 was the default

Try 755, that will probably fix this.

Where do you set folder permissions?  Maybe this is my problem.

FTP programs like FileZilla allow you to do this.

yea, I use "smartFTP" and it does all files and subfolders at once.  I then checked it thru cpanel which will only allow one file or folder at a time.  thanx.  I think I found the problem in the way the files are installed on the server there has apparentley been some re-routing with domain names and accounts that I was not aware of.  Basically it has been done like a chinese fire drill. stay tuned.......

If you have got a lot of content in the site already, do a clean install.

Yes, you can set up the Rocketlauncher install on a sub-domain.

Upload the contents of the Rocketlauncher zip folder to your sub-domain folder and run the install script.

I downloaded the 1.5 Native RocketLauncher for Terran Tribune. I extracted the files and uploaded via FTP to my server. I then went to www.mysite.com/Joomla_RT_TerranTribune_j15/ and it redirected to www.myiste.com/Joomla_RT_TerranTribune_j15/installation/index.php.

The problem I am having is that it is the default Joomla installation and not the rocket installer installation so if I proceed with teh steps it just simply installs joomla and not the Terran demo site.   If anyone could help me out it would be appreicated. THanks

Yeah it looks exactly the same.  Go thru it, and make sure you install the sample data, and that should fix it.

I'm new to Rockettheme, so please forgive me for my ignorance. With that being said, I have installed RocketLauncher TerranTribune and everything went along nicely. Then I got to the part of where I had to delete the "installation" folder, which I did.  Now, I am getting the following error:

You may want to get another opinion, but it looks like you are going to have to completely reinstall.  It doesnt look like everything transferred.  However, I dont know without getting into it. 

Let me know if you need anything.

By the way....

When using the older templates with the Rocket Launcher:

A: A Rocket Launcher splash screen would appear
B: After the install, when opening the site for the first time, the Rocket Theme template would appear by default

With the newer templates using the Rocket Launcher:

A: The standard Joomla splash screen appears
B:  After the install, the Joomla default template will load; you must go to the Template Manager and make the Rocket Theme template the default before it will display

I dont know if you are using the 1.0 rocketlaunchers or not, but any of the 1.5 RL's have all defaulted to the one Im installing... Ive never had to change it...

An RL install of Chromataphore & Catalyst 1.5 both required a change in the template manager.

Don't know when the RL splash screen was discontinued or the new template on launch by default, as I don't install a version of every template, perhaps a Rocketeer could confirm?

Crazy... Yeah we will see what they say, but I have used RL's of all of them so far except for the periphilian (sp?) one and they have all defaulted correctly..  It might be something to do with the sample data import on your host..  which one it grabs first in inject

I have completely unistalled and reinstalled RT TerranTribune twice and still remained with the same error.  Then I narrowed it down to the issue being within the "libraries" folder, so I deleted and re-uploaded the folder.  I'm still getting the same error.  Upon further investigation, it appears that the issue lies with the help file within libraries/joomla/application/help.  The size in the original RT says 8mb, but when transferred via ftp, I only get 7mb.  This has been consistent the last several times I've transferred. 

Any information that is received would greatly, greatly, greatly be appreciated.  I'm at my wits end on this one.

Can you upload the zipped Rocket Launcher and extract it on the site rather than FTP-ing the entire un-zipped package from your computer?

As hosting control panels vary, I can't tell you exactly how to extract it once you've got it there but it makes things a bit easier.

Thank you for your response.  I deleted the entire unzipped file and transfered the zip file onto the server...now I don't know how to unzip it once on the server or at least it is not giving me an option to do so.  I am currently on the phone with godaddy for assistance and will let you know what I find out.  I am completely open for any suggestions...just go easy on me as I'm new to this but anxiously willing to learn. :)

Sorry I couldn't tell you how to extract it on GoDaddy.

Usually there's some type of 'Archive Gateway' in the CP that will let you view all the floders in your root with the option to zip or unzip them.

Once you can figure that out it's half the battle; you know if you extract it on the server that northing's been lost while FTPing the files.

When I first started, I unzipped, FTPed, and got errors galore.

I actually FTPed one template over 20 times to my host using three different FTP clients from four different locations, including a T1 line.

I could never get the entire template uploaded - don't remember where I got 'the answer' but since then I've never had a problem.

Anyway, now you can get to work.... :-)

Has anyone gotten the rocket launcher to work on godaddy?  I've successfully used the rocket launcher on my own server, as well as on NETSOL hosts, but not on godday.  I can upload and unzip the file, and the installation screen shows, however after the license screen, it loops back to the language selection screen.

Transfer the unzipped file to your godaddy server and extract it there.  For some reason, unzipping it and then ftp'ing it, not all of the files get transfered over.  It worked like a charm twice for me so far. 

A HUGE thanks to GEM618 for this helpful hint...as I was pulling my hair out with it not working and GEM618 set me straight.

  Yes, initially I did it the way gem listed...but still the  installer does not work.   It always seems to loop back to the language selection screen.  Once I was able to get to the ftp config screen, but it just looped back to lang selection.

I've tried with several RL packages, and same problem.  I think there is something up with godaddy and the RL package, for I've installed joomla and RL many times on other servers.
