Installation - Joomla 1.5


Downloading the Template Files

  • Versatility 4 Template (rt_versatility4_j15.tgz) This file is the template package you will use to install Versatility 4 into Joomla.
  • Versatility 4 Custom Extensions (versatility4-extensions-j15.zip) This package contains each of the individual custom extensions included in the Versatility 4 template release.
  • Versatility 4 Source PNGs (versatility4-sources.zip) This package contains the Adobe Fireworks source PNGs for making modifications and customizations to the images in the template. You will need Adobe Fireworks image editing to fully utilize the Source PNG files.

Using the Joomla Installer

From the Menu in your Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Install/Uninstall.

Next, browse for your rt_ versatility4_j15.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install.

Making Versatility 4 the Default

installationNext, go to Extensions → Template Manager. Find rt_ versatility4_j15 on the list of installed templates.

Select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Versatility 4 is now your default template.

Additionally, you can also edit the template's customization parameters by selecting this same radio button and clicking the "Edit" button in the top right corner.

  • Versatility 4 Template (rt_versatility4.tgz) This file is the template package you will use to install Versatility 4 into Joomla.

Using the Joomla Installer

installationGo to your Admin control panel for your site. In the Menu at the top, go to Installers > Templates - Site.

Next browse for your rt_versatility4.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install. Now Versatility 4 is installed and in your template list. You should observe an introductory page in which you select Continue.

Making Versatility 4 the Default

installationNext, from your admin control panel, go to Site > Template Manager > Site Templates. This will pull up the list of your installed templates.

Find Versatility 4 on the list and select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Versatility 4 will now be the default template.

What is RokNewsRotator and how do I set it up?
This module is also on the frontpage but is located in the showcase2 area. You simple assign it to a category and it will rotate through the content items for you. Note that this is from the MediaMogul board as the original RokNewsRotator appeared there. What is RokSlide and how do I set it up?
You will observe that the modular positions, User11 through User 20 are contained within what appears to be RokSlide. The effect/functionality has been integrated directly into the template, providing a sleek stylish approach for extra modules, allowing you to created tabbed modules and tabbed module groups. How do I enable the hidden positions such as the logo?
You can enable/disable these positions in the index.php configuration (if you are using Joomla 1.0) or in the Joomla Template Manager (if you are using Joomla 1.5). For information, see either or all of the following:-
How do I setup the Bottom menu?
For the bottom menu, you will need t use the following settings in Admin > Modules > Site Modules > Other Menu (or whatever menu you wish to use) :-
  • Position: bottom
  • Menu Class Suffix: -bottom
  • Menu Style: Flat List
Note that -bottom is not a module class suffix but a Menu class suffix.
