Source Ordered Layout

SolarSentinel continues the latest trend of SEO optimised templates. The layout of the template has been constructed differently to the norm. A typical Joomla template, in regards to the mainbody source, will load the left column first, then the right column and finally the main column (where your main articles are loaded). SolarSentinel takes a different approach and loads the main column code before the left and right columns. Therefore, this template loads in this order: Header, Menu, Showcase, Main Column, Left Column, Right Column, Bottom, Footer. Downloading the Template Files

  • SolarSentinel Template (rt_solarsentinel_j15.tgz) This file is the template package you will use to install SolarSentinel into Joomla.
  • SolarSentinel Custom Extensions (solarsentinel-extensions-j15.zip) This package contains each of the individual custom extensions included in the SolarSentinel template release.
  • SolarSentinel Source PNGs (solarsentinel-sources.zip) This package contains the Adobe Fireworks source PNGs for making modifications and customizations to the images in the template. You will need Adobe Fireworks image editing to fully utilize the Source PNG files.

Using the Joomla Installer

From the Menu in your Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Install/Uninstall.

Next, browse for your rt_ solarsentinel_j15.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install.

Making SolarSentinel the Default

installationNext, go to Extensions → Template Manager. Find rt_ solarsentinel_j15 on the list of installed templates.

Select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. SolarSentinel is now your default template.

Additionally, you can also edit the template's customization parameters by selecting this same radio button and clicking the "Edit" button in the top right corner.

RokGZipper is a plugin whose primary aim is to improve the performance and speed of your site. It does this by compressing your CSS (stylesheets) and JavaScript files. For javascript files, it compresses them altogether (via GZip) and places them in the cache folder. It differentiates between the pages so if you have a particular combination of scripts on one page, and a different combination on another, two files will be created and loaded independently. A similar method is used for the CSS but is based on path. To exemplify, all the CSS files in template's /css directory are combined into one file, with the module CSS files being combined elsewhere. SolarSentinel introduces a source ordering layout, which, even if the visual aspect of the template is left column, main column, right column, the actual code itself places the main column before the left and right.
