KineticKinetic, the February 2010 Club Template release, has a versatile and flexible design, styled with scrupulous precision, and founded on the functional, feature rich Gantry v2.0 core.

The theme's impressive collection of preset styles, and complimentary module variations are key to the design's appeal, offering an array of stylistic tools to refine your content. Kinetic also sports a triple level splitmenu, similar to the menu system deployed on the RocketTheme site, as well as Fusion still being available.

NOTICE: Kinetic has limited support for IE6. The primary restrictions are placed on the preset settings (only low is available), the menu (fusion menu is replaced with suckerfish) and RTL support is not present.

Gantry Framework Version 2.0

Kinetic is the built with the Gantry Framework, version 2.0, which includes powerful features such as menu item control, RTL support, custom presets and many more. This is all on top of the first generation features, making Gantry the most noticeable, and far reaching feature of the template.

Gantry is, as a basic definition, A framework used for assembling, building and maintaining a RocketTheme template. It is an advanced platform for dramatically extending the capabilities of the entire theming system of Joomla.

8 Style Variations in High, Med and Low Modes

Kinetic has 8 preset styles / style variations with each having 3 different detail levels: High, Medium & Low. You can edit these combinations with the Gantry administrator at Extensions → Template Manager → rt_kinetic_j15.

Additionally, each style variation has 4 colour modes for the Showcase area as well as a transparent option which again, you can configure in the Template Manager. More Details...

NOTICE: RokNavMenu 1.7.13+ is required for the Kinetic Menu to work.

RTL Support

Template side RTL support from the Fusion menu to the Typography. This is in conjunction with Gantry version 2.0's RTL support for the automatic flipping of the grid system.

If Joomla is set to RTL mode, in its language settings, the Kinetic template will automatically adjust to its RTL layout. The modules will invert inside a row, such as showcase-a and showcase-f being in alternate locations; the various template elements such as the breadcrumbs and typography will also flip; and also the menu will adjust accordingly (ensure you are using the latest version of RokNavMenu however).

Installation - Joomla 1.5


Downloading the Template Files

To install the template, you need the following file:-

  • Kinetic Template rt_kinetic_j15.tgz - This is the template file that you use to install into Joomla.

There are other files that you may wish to download that accompany the release, but are not required for the template to work.

  • Kinetic Source PNG(s) kinetic-sources.zip - This contains all the Adobe Fireworks PNG source files for the template, and if applicable, the logo font.
  • Kinetic Extensions kinetic-extensions-j15.zip - This package contains all the extensions that accompany the template release.
  • Kinetic RocketLauncher Joomla_RT_Kinetic_j15.zip - The RocketLauncher pack is a full Joomla install that contains all the demo content, including extensions and the template.

Using the Joomla Installer

From the Menu in your Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Install/Uninstall.

Next, browse for your rt_ kinetic_j15.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install.

Making Kinetic the Default

installationNext, go to Extensions → Template Manager. Find rt_ kinetic_j15 on the list of installed templates.

Select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Kinetic is now your default template.

Additionally, you can also edit the template's customization parameters by selecting this same radio button and clicking the "Edit" button in the top right corner.
