GrungeGrunge, the June 2010 Free GPL release, is the second free template to take advantage of the Gantry Framework, and is outfitted with a sophisticated, artistic and professional design, in conjunction with a powerful, flexible and feature rich core framework.

The template is a perfect example of an artistic club release, with a range of key / core features that accompany all our RocketTheme templates, mainly that of Gantry, which provides a useful sample for you to experience club level themes.

Gantry Framework

Grunge is the built with the Gantry Framework, which includes powerful features such as menu item control, RTL support, custom presets and many more. This is all on top of the first generation features, making Gantry the most noticeable, and far reaching feature of the template.

Gantry is, as a basic definition, A framework used for assembling, building and maintaining a RocketTheme template. It is an advanced platform for dramatically extending the capabilities of the entire theming system of Joomla.

CSS Dropdown Menu

Grunge is outfitted with custom styling for the Joomla main menu module. This styling, when the module is placed into the header positions, allows the menu to be transformed from a basic list to a dynamic, CSS dropdown menu. More Details...

RTL Support

Template side RTL support from the Fusion menu to the Typography. This is in conjunction with Gantry's RTL support for the automatic flipping of the grid system.

If Joomla is set to RTL mode, in its language settings, the Grunge template will automatically adjust to its RTL layout. The modules will invert inside a row, such as showcase-a and showcase-f being in alternate locations; the various template elements such as the breadcrumbs and typography will also flip; and also the menu will adjust accordingly.

Installation - Joomla 1.5


Downloading the Template Files

To install the template, you need one of the following files:-

  • Grunge Template (Standalone) rt_grunge_j15.tgz - This is the standalone template file that you use to install into Joomla.
  • Grunge Template (Bundle) rt_grunge_j15-bundle.tar.gz - This is the bundle package, containing the template and Gantry library files, that you use to install into Joomla.
Only use the Bundle package on a clean install, or on an install that does NOT have the Gantry library already installed - /components/com_gantry. Use the standalone package if the Gantry library is already present.

There are other files that you may wish to download that accompany the release, but are not required for the template to work.

  • Grunge Source PNG(s) rt_grunge_j15-sources.zip - This contains all the Adobe Fireworks PNG source files for the template, and if applicable, the logo font.

Using the Joomla Installer

From the Menu in your Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Install/Uninstall.

Next, browse for the rt_grunge_j15.tgz or rt_grunge_j15-bundle.tar.gz file that you downloaded earlier and then click Upload File & Install.

Making Grunge the Default

installationNext, go to Extensions → Template Manager. Find rt_grunge_j15 on the list of installed templates.

Select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Grunge is now your default template.

Additionally, you can also edit the template's customization parameters by selecting this same radio button and clicking the "Edit" button in the top right corner.
