Chromatophore has a spectacular new feature, the mootools controlled color chooser. With this feature, you can change almost everything in the template, in respects to its color within seconds. Just click the dropdown at the top and experiment with the options.

Downloading the Template Files

  • Chromatophore Template (rt_chromatophore_j15.tgz) This file is the template package you will use to install Chromatophore into Joomla.
  • Chromatophore Custom Extensions (chromatophore-extensions-j15.zip) This package contains each of the individual custom extensions included in the Chromatophore template release.
  • Chromatophore Source PNG's (chromatophore-sources.zip) This package contains the Adobe Fireworks source png's for making modifications and customizations to the images in the template. You will need Adobe Fireworks image editing to fully utilize the Source PNG files.

Using the Joomla Installer

From the Menu in your Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Install/Uninstall.

Next, browse for your rt_chromatophore_j15.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install.

Making Chromatophore the Default

installationNext, go to Extensions → Template Manager. Find rt_chromatophore_j15 on the list of installed templates.

Select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Chromatophore is now your default template.

Additionally, you can also edit the template's customization parameters by selecting this same radio button and clicking the "Edit" button in the top right corner.

Using the Joomla Installer

installationGo to your Admin control panel for your site. In the Menu at the top, go to Installers > Templates - Site.

Next browse for your rt_chromatophore.tgz file you downloaded and then click Upload File & Install. Now Chromatophore is installed and in your template list. You should observe an introductory page in which you select Continue.

Making Chromatophore the Default

installationNext, from your admin control panel, go to Site > Template Manager > Site Templates. This will pull up the list of your installed templates.

Find Chromatophore on the list and select the radio button to the left and then click Default up in the top right corner. Chromatophore will now be the default template.

What is the Color Chooser and how do I customise it?
Chromatophore has a spectacular new feature, the mootools controlled color chooser. With this feature, you can change almost everything in the template, in respects to its color within seconds. You have the ability to choose from preset color combinations and background overlays or you can create your own custom combinations. Just click the Color Chooser dropdown at the top and experiment with the options. You can enter the hex values manually or via the "color picker", as you do so you will see a live preview of how the scheme will appear. Press the Apply Colors button on the right of the panel for the color scheme to fade into place LIVE!.

What is the IE6 Warning and how do I enable/disable it?
The IE6 warning message is a script that will display a message to IE6 users advising them to upgrade to a more secure browser version.

This is not enabled by default, but can easily be turned on or off with a toggle in the template index.php. When enabled, users visiting your site with IE6 only, will be able to view the message. By enabling this, you can help fight the good fight that rids the internet of the evil incarnation that is IE6! More Details...
What is RokSlide and how do I set it up?
You will observe that the modular positions, User7 through User 11 are contained within what appears to be RokSlide. In Chromatophore, the RokSlide effect/functionality has been integrated directly into the template, providing a sleek stylish approach for extra modules, allowing you to created tabbed modules and tabbed module groups.
