SOLVED Menu type selection - empty popup

Posted 9 years 11 months ago
    • Hello,

I recently installed MC in a J2.5 website.

Soon after I found out I could not visualize the contents of the popup windows summoned by the Menu Type option.

I tried reverting back to Hathor or Bluestork, but the problem remained - A problem that did not exist prior to the installation of MC.

Did MC mess up some Javascript?

      Some SS:

    • I use MC all the time and haven't run across this. Would you please create a Super Admin login for me and place it in the SECURE part of your Reply

    • With Bluestork I get this error message in Chrome Developer Tools, "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) "

With MC I get, Remote Address:xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxx
      Request Method:GET
      Status Code:500 Internal Server Error[/b]"

A "500 internal server error" is a very generic error that means a URL you've requested couldn't be accessed. The error is actually on the server side and NOT in the Joomla/Theme code. One of the more common occurences that can raise this error are if you've updated your Joomla/Theme installation and are using a newer PHP version but some code references an older version of PHP. Also installing a new plugin, if not well written, could corrupt the .htaccess file. And there are MANY more than can cause this error.

The best way to get a handle is too work with your hosting provider. Start by reviewing your Apache error logs. You could also do some basic debugging by backing up your current .htaccess file to your HDD. Then on the server copy delete all the code and save. See if this resolves the issue. If so then it's one of the lines of .htaccess code that is causing the issue.

So I would be :O 'd if was MC that caused this.

    • Dan,

Thanks... Removing all of .htaccess contents ended in getting a blank page when accessing any menu in backend. So I put it back on:

      Here are my .htaccess's contents:
      # Use PHP5.3 Single php.ini as default
      AddHandler application/x-httpd-php54s .php

So I will try checking the logs, although I don't know what I will be searching for.

Another thing I will try is disabling all website's plugins, one by one, intercalated with cache clean-ups to see if I can get my menu type selections back.

      Thanks!

    • Hi Dan,

I pointed the finger a RT MC, when the problem came from elsewhere.

It was related with a K2 extension called K2 filter. It installs various plugins and one of the (Filter for K2 - views) was messing with the Menu selection.

Upon disabling my problem was solved.

Now I am looking from their development side for help.

Thanks for calling my attention for plugins conflits.

If you hadn't figured it out on your own, my next step was going to be to look at 3rd party apps ;)
Interesting that it wiped out Bluestork also :(
