SOLVED Joomla 4x - RT Ready?

  • SOLVED Joomla 4x - RT Ready?

    • Large changes are being made to the template system for Joomla 4.0. Are templates purchased now going to stop working with the release of Joomla 4.0 in the very near future?

Old UI frameworks are being replaced/updated in Joomla 4 and bootstrap 2 is being removed all-together.

How is RT handling this transition and will all, none or only some of your pre-J4 templates continue to work?

How do you know that? There's still not enough information about Joomla 4 for us to make any definitive statements but we intend to at least try to make our template portfolio continue to work on Joomla 4 (especially all the Gantry 5 based templates). Joomla 4 is still a long way off and J3.x will continue to be supported by Joomla for a considerable time yet.

I've answered that above - we can't give any definite opinion or methodology yet. When we can we will make an announcement. This is a link to the last announcement we made on this subject http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/general-discussion/272007-rockettheme-update-legacy-extensions-joomla-4-sale-etc?start=0#1360997 .

    • I know it due to a response from the dev team which stated that Bootstrap 2.0 was being removed in a support ticket i submitted to them. The question I was asking though still is not answered. Will the non-legacy joomla templates on RT be made compatible if they become incompatible? I just dont want to spend money and not be able to get an updated template any time soon after launch.

    • I really can’t answer what we don’t yet know. Our intention is to try to make everything work, but no promises.

We will have an announcement on this next month.

To give you a short answer, we are working on updating our framework + templates. We are examining a number of solutions right now, and once we have a proof of concept to share, we'll do so.

This is one of the main priorities for our team right now. We can't promise anything until we have that proof of concept ready and tested. There's also always the curve ball Joomla can throw that we can't reliably anticipate.
