Thank you for the update. I have a Joomla site built with the Callisto theme. Is there an advantage to using one of the new particle alternatives—the Features Slider, for example—over the same funtionality built with RokSprocket?
On the surface, you get less flexibility with the particle in its included form. RokSprocket is a versatile plugin and you can do a lot with it. That isn't to say you can't expand on the particle. Doing so is quite easy if you have a little YAML and Twig know-how. But, out of the box, for non-developers, it does less.
BUT... and here's where things become use-case specific, particles are light weight as light weight gets. There is no additional extension to manage and tinker with, and setting it up involves filling out a simple form with little learning curve.
So... yes and no? Nothing that jumps out as being a must-have bonus, but if you don't need all of RokSprocket's features to run that slider... you don't have to use it.
