Honestly I don't know why the blog email was not formatted correctly that you received. We haven't had any other reports of that.
Neverthessless, we do try to announce in the "announcements" forum and "blog" if we are going to be late with any template releases. Sometimes it is just unavoidable that we have to delay the release.
