    WP Themes: No Compression?

Posted 10 years 1 week ago
    • I've only played with WP a few times; however, they have a few plugins that I could really use on some new sites.

Rather than try to port them over to Joomla, I was looking at the RT themes for WP and noticed that they have A LOT of overhead—nearly 900K in js, etc, and receive lots of 'F's across the board in YSlow with sub 50 scores. These babies are resource heavy!

Is this the nature of the WP beast? Given how light-weight the RT J! templates can be when you strip them down and compress everything, I am assuming this is one drawback to WP and not an RT WP theme issue, right? :)

    • Many users use the W3 Total Cache to better the scores for WP.
There are others but that is the one I have run across the most.
