SOLVED Host File Manager does not allow .scss file typeHi
Posted 8 years 2 months ago
Hi,
I have one of my websites hosted with Heartinternet and their file manager does not recognise .scss file types. It won't allow editing (box greyed out).
Does this mean I cannot add custom styling to my gantry5 template? Is there a work around for this?
Kind regards
Mel

Actually I don't believe they are to blame as it's Joomla that hasn't caught up with the latest file extensions, .scss - .yaml - .twig, being used in current web designs. Lets hope the next version might implement these new file types.
For now you have to use a FTP client or your Cpanel file manager to create the custom.scss file. Once created Joomla will see it and you can edit it in the Template Manager Edit screen.

Hi Melanie,
I am currently going through our old posts and was wondering if you still need help with this issue or can we close it?

Hi David,
my apologies, I should have posted back.
Basically on the shared hosting, to be able to add custom css to the .scss file, we first have to rename it to a .txt file, then make the changes, then renamve it back.
My shared hosting doesn't yet support .scss file extensions.
In answer to your question, yes, my issue is now resolved.
