    SOLVED Host File Manager does not allow .scss file typeHi

    Posted 8 years 2 months ago
    • Hi,

      I have one of my websites hosted with Heartinternet and their file manager does not recognise .scss file types. It won't allow editing (box greyed out).

      Does this mean I cannot add custom styling to my gantry5 template? Is there a work around for this?

      Kind regards

      Mel

    • Actually I don't believe they are to blame as it's Joomla that hasn't caught up with the latest file extensions, .scss - .yaml - .twig, being used in current web designs. Lets hope the next version might implement these new file types.

      For now you have to use a FTP client or your Cpanel file manager to create the custom.scss file. Once created Joomla will see it and you can edit it in the Template Manager Edit screen.

    • Hi Dan,

      thanks for responding and explaining. I didn't realise I could edit the template files in that way via template manager - cool :)

      I have added some custom styling to this but it isn't changing in the template. I have added this:

      div#fd.eb.mod-easyblogsearch .mod-btn {
      margin-top: 10px !important;
      }

      This normally works on my other Joomla site, but not this one.

      I have place the scss file in a new folder under custom called scss - that is correct isn't it?

      What might be preventing this from working?

      Kind regards

      Mel

    • Hi Melanie,

      I am currently going through our old posts and was wondering if you still need help with this issue or can we close it?

    • Hi David,

      my apologies, I should have posted back.

      Basically on the shared hosting, to be able to add custom css to the .scss file, we first have to rename it to a .txt file, then make the changes, then renamve it back.

      My shared hosting doesn't yet support .scss file extensions.

      In answer to your question, yes, my issue is now resolved.
