  • SOLVED Gantry framework and Gantry Framework Base Theme update

    • Hi all

      I'm using today latest Gantry framework (4.1.28) and Gantry Framework Base Theme (4.1.26) on Joommla 3.4 website without issue

      Do we need to update everytime Gantry framework and Gantry Framework Base Theme at the same moment ?

      Gantry framework can be done quicly with joomla updater but issue with Gantry Framework Base Theme especially if you have modified index.php or template option /detail .xml and not follow by J! updater

      How can we know if Gantry Framework Base Theme need really a complete update ?

    • 1. Read the changelog on gantry site it will tell you what has been changed and what it fixes.
      2. You should avoid changing any of our original template files for the very reason you have outlined. I don't know why you are changing the index.php or the xml but there are usually other ways of doing it that changing the original template files (e.g. add extension that can dynamically add scripts or CSS files to header).
      3. It's always best to take the latest releases of everything because they are fixing known bugs.

    • Yes, you're right there's no way around that one because you are in effect altering the template itself (the structure).

      Rokupdater only exists to allow you to authenticate to download PAID extensions. Since all our extensions are FREE at the moment you actually don't need rokupdater at all so you can uninstall it. Templates are not shown in Joomla updater or Rokupdater at present - we intend to do that with rokupdater in the future but all our DEVS are busy at the moment with Gantry 5.
