SOLVED Gantry 5 Wordpress Data Serialisation Issues?

    • Hello,

I have a wordpress website using Hydrgoen Gantry 5 theme.

I want to move it to a new domain name. Wordpress Codex states that doing a 'search & replace' for the new domain name in the database may cause fatal errors as some theme developers use data serialisation.

Does Gantry 5 use data serialisation? If not I am assuming a database 'search & replace' would suffice to migrate the website to a new domain name?

Or would Rocket Theme recommend using a migration plugin such as "Velvet Blues Update URLs" plugin?

Many thanks in advance if someone can provide advice.

    • Gantry doesn't store your domain name in any path it builds... all paths are relative to what you've set in your WordPress HOME and SITE URL fields...

For the most part you don't need to do any find/replace in your DB when migrating domains... unless a poorly coded plugin was saving static/absolute domain paths...
