left/right menu like top menu (jQuery)

  • left/right menu like top menu (jQuery)

    • Hello,

      I was too busy to implement my new shop and now my Magento subscription has expired. I want to start over, but before renewing my subscription I want to make sure I can finish the shop as soon as possible.

      I started with Quasar last year and I would like to continue with the latest version of the Quasar template.

      So, I want to know if it's possible to have a left or right menu just like the top menu on the Quasar template, with onmouseover expanding and showing all the category levels?
      I don't like the separation between the side menu and the part with "Filter products by", I prefere one menu with all catagories.

      For this menu the stock levels are not important.

      Is it possible to modify the template or is there another template using this style of side menu?

      Thanks and have a nice day!

      Bruno

    • All of the templates now have 2 choices for the side menu, either the standard accordions, or a category tree menu - both now have an option to define how many sub-levels are visible.

    • NOTE: This only applies to the Club version of Quasar, as the free version doesn't include the MageMenus extension:

      In order to add an external link to your MageMenu, you need to make use of Magento's URL Rewrites.

      First, make yourself a new CMS page, naming it after your desired link - for example Google:

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

      Save the page, and open up your MageMenus config in System -> Configuration -> RT RokMage Modules -> MageMenus. You will now have your new CMS page available from the CMS page menu dropdowns:

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

      Select it and save.

      Next, go to Catalog -> URL Rewrite Management and click Add URL Rewrite. From the dropdown, select Custom, and set the following options:

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

      ...and save. Your Google menu item will now redirect to google.com.

    • Not sure why that would happen. Can you maybe try adding a semicolon after the } on line 43 in that file mentioned?

    • Hi,

      From my customized templated I have deleted from local.xml the following :
      <!-- START - Add Mobile Check -->
      <reference name="before_body_end">
      <block type="core/template" name="mobile.check">
      <action method="setTemplate" ifconfig="rokmage_mobile/general/enable">
      <template>rokmagemobile/mobilecheck.phtml</template>
      </action>
      </block>
      </reference>
      <!-- END - Add Mobile Check -->

      Then it works fine but, If I change to desktop view there is no way to switch back to mobile view.

      What I want to add is a way to switch from desktop view to mobile view back again.

      Thanks and regards.

    • You can add a link manually wherever you want, the url to use is:

      www. YOURSTORE .com/switchtheme/index/toMobile

    • Hi,

      Finally I have add mobilecheck.phtml content to the footer.phtml file
      <?php

      function detectMobileDevice() {
          $mobile_ua = strtolower(substr($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 0, 4));
          $mobile_agents = array(
              'w3c ','acs-','alav','alca','amoi','audi','avan','benq','bird','blac',
              'blaz','brew','cell','cldc','cmd-','dang','doco','eric','hipt','inno',
              'ipaq','java','jigs','kddi','keji','leno','lg-c','lg-d','lg-g','lge-',
              'maui','maxo','midp','mits','mmef','mobi','mot-','moto','mwbp','nec-',
              'newt','noki','oper','palm','pana','pant','phil','play','port','prox',
              'qwap','sage','sams','sany','sch-','sec-','send','seri','sgh-','shar',
              'sie-','siem','smal','smar','sony','sph-','symb','t-mo','teli','tim-',
              'tosh','tsm-','upg1','upsi','vk-v','voda','wap-','wapa','wapi','wapp',
              'wapr','webc','winw','winw','xda ','xda-');
          if (preg_match('/(up.browser|up.link|mmp|symbian|smartphone|midp|wap|phone|android)/i', strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']))) {
              return true;
          }
          else if ((strpos(strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT']),'application/vnd.wap.xhtml+xml') > 0) or ((isset($_SERVER['HTTP_X_WAP_PROFILE']) or isset($_SERVER['HTTP_PROFILE'])))) {
              return true;
          }
          else if (in_array($mobile_ua,$mobile_agents)) {
              return true;
          }
          else if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']),'OperaMini') > 0) {
              return true;
          }
          else if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']),'windows') > 0) {
              return false;
          }
          else {
              return false;
          }
      };

      if(detectMobileDevice()){
         echo '<div class="viewmobile"><a class="switchtodesktop" href="'.$this->getUrl('switchtheme/index/toMobile').'">'.$this->__('View Mobile Version').'</a></div>';
      };

      ?>

      That works fine. Because adding the file mobilecheck.phtml to the local.xml gives the error I have mentioned before (try to define function twice). (with my own template, seems to works fine with default moxi template).

      Sure must be a more elegant solution to this but actually I am not a programmer.

      Thanks for all the help.

      Regards.

      Sergio
