Fix for Error 403 when trying to upload in Joomla 1.5

Posted 16 years 1 month ago
    • On some Servers uploads and File-Operations on J!1.5 will produce a 403-Error. This is already a known issue and will most probably be fixed in the next release.
Meanwhile, as a temporary Fix, add this to your .htaccess:
########## Attempt to solve 'Global Configuration' save issue, FTP layer issue, Media Upload issue
      SecFilterEngine Off
      SecFilterScanPOST Off
########## End - Attempt to solve 'Global Configuration' save issue, FTP layer issue, Media Upload issue

    • Can you please expand on this a bit? I keep getting the 403 error when I try to work in the admin panel, both with version 1.5.6 and 1.5.7.

Because I'm a noob at this, can you detail where in the htacess you add the code; beginning, end, etc? What line(s) would be very helpful.

      Thanks.

    • I have been using mixxmag for about 3 months with no issues and then the other day when I went to enter via the abckend admin I got a 404 error - component not found message. I am now locked out of my site (I am not a techie). Is the above htaccess code soemthing that may also help me or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am at a 100% loss at this point.

      hi there,

i strongly doubt that this is going to do any good in your case.
i suggest that you contact your host and ask them for assistance with your matter.

    • HI

I did contact them and was meet with a wall - no server issues.

      At complete loss.

Frontend looks fine - just trying to get in via backend is the issue.

    • Kat you are star

A guy recommended uploading the administrator folder again to over write the one on the server and hey presto we are back in action.

The annual fee for rocket theme is steal, the help I have got (as well as the best templates) has been fab since I joined few months back.

      Once again thanks Kat
