[SOLVED] Cyrillic symbols does not trigger search process
26 posts • Page 1 of 2 • 1, 2
Hi! Thanks for a great search module!
I have found a little problem on my site. Normally, module start searching (AJAX circle appear) when user type something, and then the results drop-down list appear.
In my case, if I start typing Cyrillic symbols - module just ignore it. If I press "space" or some Latin symbol - it starting search, including Cyrillic words, and display a proper search results.
It seems like Cyrillic symbols typing is not an event, the module is waiting for, to start search process.
Please, let me know if you need live URL to check it by yourself.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.

hi lufa,
yes, maybe a live url would help.
could you also check on the demo site, for example with nexus? http://demo.rockettheme.com/aug09/
i tried with arabic characters and the search works fine, it tells me that there were no search results.

That's probably because you did copy-paste. Pasting the text starts the search.
But if you typing it...
I have created a short screencast to demonstrate it: http://stryi.com.ua/tmp/ajax_search.avi
Thank you.

On the demo site:
RocketTheme templates feature = not working
of a full = working
Upload the files = working
I had 2 russian friends test your site and the result were pretty much the same, 2 words = ok and 3 words = not ok so i don't think it is charset specific. And yes my friends could verify your video too
I don't know why it behaves this way. I will ask Djamil.

May be I did not get it... That's not about a words...
"Any" typed symbols should start a search process.
I think there is a Javascript function wich "check" an input element. If user press a key on it - scrip check whether it is a letter. If it is a letter - the search should start (in background, using AJAX).
But, probably, function's key's filter does not recognize Cyrillic symbols as letters, so they been ignored (as trigger event) while typing.
