Joomla Templates - Join the RocketTheme Joomla Templates Club

This month we asked our community what they wanted to see in the next RocketTheme Joomla! template. We got some fantastic responses and we’ve tried to answer some of the more popular ones in one template.

ImageBentoBox comes with 3 light, and 3 dark styles. Although structurally the same, these two template bases create very different designs and allow for an extremely varied array of uses. Also, BentoBox uses a variation of a new CSS technique to provide a completely table-less design with a minimum of CSS hacks while still retaining module collapsing capabilities.

Other great features include 3 built-in menu variations: SplitMenu2, SplitMenu, and Suckerfish, as well as an option to use a module in place of the built-in menus. 12 Module positions, 4 module style variations, Accessibility options to choose font sizes, Ability to configure as Fluid or Fixed-width, the list goes on and on!

Sporticus News is a bonus template this month based on the very popular Sporticus series of templates. This version is a nice light design and has been created specifically for professional looking news sites. To emphasize this we’ve created styles specifically for iJoomla’s brand-new news component. Looking for a colorful and fun user portal style for Joomla? You don’t need to look any further than Vortex. This new template from RocketTheme features a multitude of module positions, menu choices, content options, and plenty of color choices to give your site that “something extra”.

Our RT members asked for a Sports Themed Joomla! Template, so that’s exactly what we delivered. Shock/StormTrooper has been designed from the ground up as a gaming or advanced technology template. We’ve been inundated with requests for more gaming style templates, so this month we teamed up with Kevin Ducommun to create the de-facto Joomla gaming design. To prove the versatility of this template we’ve created 4 variations right from the start. Two are quite general, and 2 are quite game specific to show you what can be done. As always this design is fast, flexible and very powerful. The ‘trooper’ series incorporates a color controlled split menu that can be used to create distinct colored sections of your site.

Geo-Sync2 is a Bonus Joomla Template in the RocketTheme Template Club. We received numerous requests from our existing club members to create a full-width version of the venerable Geo-Sync design, and now your wishes have been answered. Geo-Sync2 uses the RocketTheme Split-Menu system to provide a unique way to navigate your site. Not only does it allow you to keep the ‘area’ tab highlighted when in a sublevel element, but also it allows each tab to have it’s own unique color scheme. By default Geo-Sync2 comes with 5 color variations. Other features include CSS font-sizer as used on joomla.org, as well as many collapsible module positions.

ShowCar is a new FREE Joomla template released under the GNU/GPL license. This template is a very clean and fast loading design that is suitable for a blog or a product site. It uses the standard Joomla module positions so can be installed and implemented very quickly.

Haiku Ramblings is another new FREE Joomla template released under the GNU/GPL license. This template is a very clean and fast loading design that is suitable for a blog or a product site. It uses the standard Joomla module positions so can be installed and implemented very quickly.

Technopia is a very clean design that really shows off the power of the Joomla! templating capabilities. This month RocketTheme has implemented some new features never before seen in a Joomla Template. The first item which you will notice is the brand new completely custom CSS driven horizontal menu. This menu is based on the RocketTheme suckerfish menu system, but has been modified to support this horizontal layout. As with other RocketTheme menu systems like RTSplitMenu and RTSuckerfish, this new RTSuperSucker menu system maintains the top-level active state when you select a menu item in the second level. Play around with it to see the power of this navigation device and you will quickly see how useful this is for your users.

Another neat feature is the MooFX based ‘accordian’ module block on the side of the main content area. This allows you to stack lots of modules into this area while retaining valuable real estate and white-space in your layout. It’s more than just dazzling good looks, it’s practical to boot!

Technopia is also a pure CSS template that uses no tables to control the layout, this allows for increased performance and better SEO capabilities. This template comes with 3 color variations built in, 2 width choices, and the option to flip the template from left to right orientation.

ModernBusiness is a fantastic new Joomla template and is the new March 2006 RocketTheme Template Club design. This is an innovative template that includes great features and unsurpassed customizability right out of the box. Some of these innovative features include:

- Javascript-based dynamic header with cross-blend effect. The first time ever incorporated into a Joomla template. It allows a transparent logo to be ‘floated’ on top, and also the ability to resize the header, features that are just not possible with flash-based solutions.

As the first Joomla template to be released under the new RocketTheme name, we decided to do something a bit different this month. The February 2006 template is called Extremities 2 and is a ‘grunge’ inspired template that is a perfect fit for all kinds of sites including those that focus on personal blog, sports, outdoors, music, photography, etc. This template is highly configurable and there are several options and features to provide you with that unique look:

- 3 built-in color variants ( Green, Blue, Red )
- The ability to choose left or right oriented layout
- Use of SIFR to provide custom module and component headers
- Control if the image banner module is css/inline or uses a module position
- Ability to configure banner layout above or below user1-3 module positions
- The ability to choose which menu is used in the exclusive RTSplitMenu system
- Fonts and Source images are provided as well as SIFR support files.

We are proud to unveil the latest addition to the Template Club. Internet Gazette was created in response to our members request to create a ‘ezine’ style joomla template with that distinctive RocketTheme touch. his template provides supreme flexibility due to it’s highly configurable nature. Some of it’s great features include:

- 4 built-in color variants ( Dark, Light, Beige, PGA )
- The ability to configure small, wide, variable-max, and full/liquid widths
- The ability to specify left or center aligned on the page
- Suckerfish based drop-down menu

These settings are easy configured via a simple config file and require no code changes. With the built-in configuration options, Internet Gazette provides 32 different configurations.
